enough time for connection at CDG?

We are looking at flights from LAX->VCE and BCN->LAX and one with a decent price is from Air France - flights 65 (LAX-CDG) and 1726 (CDG->VCE) to Venice (10/18-10/19) and then flights 1149 (BCN-CDG) and 72 (CDG-LAX) from Barcelona (11/2). However, we've read horror stories about CDG and wonder if the connection times are too tight between those flights. The connection time for the outbound flight at CDG is 1 hour 35 mins. The connection time for the return is 1 hour and 10 mins. These are flights that are being put together by various websites (including matrix.itasoftware.com). Can I trust that if flights are being put together by the airlines and/or travel websites, that there is enough time to make the connection or is that assumption incorrect? Thanks for any advice you can give us!

Stay well away from CDG, it has got to be the worst airport in Europe

to make a connection, apart from the design the French are not the most helpful.

Have you looked at KLM throug Amsterdam, they have a hub at Detroit,

or even Lufthansa thro Frankfurt

We avoid CDG and LHR whenever possible. We came from Venice through Frankfurt this past Saturday. Even with having to go through passport control (not security thankfully) again, which was crowded, we were at our next gate and ready to board within an hour.
