ladyjane550 Posted May 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2011 Need a hotel with transportation from airport to hotel and hotel to Miami cruiseport. At least a 3* Hotel. Would like a store nearby to buy bottled water for the cruise.
Langley Cruisers Posted May 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2011 There are literally dozens of threads about this; you can use the Search function to find them. However, some people recommend La Quinta East by the airport. None of the downtown area hotels shuttle to the Port of Miami; if they did, that's all they would be doing all weekend long. I wouldn't want to choose a hotel just for the free shuttle; they are usually not worth it.
JohninDC Posted May 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2011 As mentioned above, no downtown or Miami Beach hotels shuttle to POM and only a couple of the budget hotels near MIA offer POM shuttles - and the only store close to LQ East is a gas station/convenience type place. The good news is that cabs are cheap and the distances are not great between MIA and POM. ;) If you are arriving late and just want dinner and a clean room check out hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA (Hampton Inn, Sofitel, Homewood Suites and others) - free airport shuttles and shopping and dining options within walking distance. Most can arrange for shuttle service to POM for $10 per person, or you can cab it for under $30 per cab. The ride to POM will take about 15 or so minutes. Dowtown hotels close to POM are a $25+ cab ride from MIA and another $10-12 cab ride will get you to POM the next morning. Some offer a view of POM from your room - a great view to enjoy in the morning! :D Check out the Doubletree, Marriott, Hyatt, Intercontinental and holiday Inn. If you are arriving early (or better yet, a couple of days early) and are living large try Miami Beach, the "Miami" you see in the movies and on TV shows -- it is a separate city from Miami, and the hotels there tend to be smaller and more expensive -- they also offer great dining, nightlife and a world class beach. A taxi to South Beach from MIA will run $32+ and another $15 cab will get you to POM. Good luck! :)
