CSA Travel Insurance

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are firm believers in having insurance for our travels. A good thing too, since we were stranded in Barcelona last December for 3 days while the Spanish Air Traffic Controllers decided to strike. Ended up with quite a hefty tab $1000+ by the time we made it back home. Thank heavens for the insurance. CSA was very good to us. Quite timely as well.

However, when we were stuck in the major weather issues affecting theeast coast this past March, not so much. This has been a nightmare. Still attempting to get our claim settled. Hearing issues on everything from and I quote...'no, we never received your fax from a week ago. To be honest we are having trouble with faxes of more than 3 pages. Could you refax 3 pages at a time?' To 'well, we are quite busy. MIght take an additional 4-6 weeks to get to your claim'. And that was today, 3 months after the fact.

I realize that insurance companies (in our case, its always been CSA) do not make money by paying out claims, but they have never had an issue taking the premiums we have paid over the last 20+ years of travel.

I would strongly, strongly, strongly recommend purchasing insurance for your travels. Just be sure to do a good bit of due diligence before purchase.

This is why I would never submit any claim information by fax. You have no idea if it ever got there and if it did who received it. US mail with some sort of return receipt costs a couple of bucks but it sure makes things smoother.

OP,

Might want to consider contacting your States Insurance Commisioner for help. Most States have time limits that require an insurance company to complete your claim or face penalties.

I think you've been very patient up to now.

:eek:Did I use the right word "patient"? or is there another spelling?
