Time on our hands in Miami

The Historical Museum of Southern Florida has some fantastic tours.

I highly recommend the tour of Stiltsville (an oasis of homes out in and on Biscayne Bay www.stiltsville.org ) and Biscayne Bay. I also recommend the Design District Tour and the Art Deco Tour.

Vizcaya Museum is wonderful and a neat place to tour. http://www.vizcayamuseum.org/

Also, the Venitian Pool is fabulous. It is a former rock quarry that was dug out in 1923 and turned into a pool.

The Parrot Jungle is a must for my family. Started out as a private zoo and now one of the best zoos anywhere.

And speaking of zoos, the Miami MetroZoo is tops.

I'd be happy to help with any other Miami questions. I spend way too much time and money there!

Pass on Parrot Jungle, its on the verge of bankruptcy, extremely overpriced with little to show for it.

The Miami Seaquariam http://www.miamiseaquarium.com/index.htm is a great family activity. Its about 15 minutes from the Port.

If your cruiseline offers a postcruise Everglades/Airboat tour go for it.

Another spot to consider is South Beach. Great ocean swimming and beach, awsome shops and restaurants on Lincoln Road.

The Miami Zoo, as nice as it is, may take you a little out of your way and you may get hung up in one of our famous traffic jams trying to get back to the airport.

Everyones talking about how great this airboat tour is. Does anyone know how far it is from Miami Beach? Would love to do this the day BEFORE the cruise but don't know how to get there?!
