Question about Atlantis Beach Day and Discover Atlantis

I booked for my family of four the Atlantis Beach Day & Discover Atlantis tour...cost is about $440 for the four of us...OUCH!! We didn't see the need to use any of the pools or the water slides, nor do we need to do the "check in at the hotel across the street and get the wristlets, etc." thing, so this excursion seemed to be good for the time being.

I was thinking of downgrading to just doing the Discover Atlantis which eliminates the beach, and the cost would only be $56 per person x 4...much more affordable. So, if we still wanted to head to a nice beach after doing the Discover Atlantis excursion, what beach would you recommend that isn't too far away, how would we get there from the Atlantis and how much would it cost. Then after spending a little time at the beach, DH wants to go to Harley Davidson store before getting back on ship (I think I read it's not far from ship, but not sure). DH has MS so mobility is an issue and would probably need transportation from Harley Davidson store back to pier. I was thinking of taxis, but need to be sure they are always around when you need one.

So it would be: having to get to a beach from Atlantis ...then to Harley Davidson Store, then back to the ship.

So, I'm just trying to find out cost and how to get this "orchestrated...from one point to another". Thanks everyone.

I would say its unlikely that you could do a taxi to the Harley store as when you get off the ship, you walk down the pier, then you go thru a building that is also a checkpoint you need to pass thru to get back on the ship later .. then there you are in the town.

The store is about 500 yards to the left?? very close to when you finally come out on the street. In fact you should be able to see it looking left.

There is a free shuttle at the pier which will take you to the main building..it runs back and forth to and from the ship and sure saves that long walk. We used it last week when we were on Pride.

We headed to Junkanoo Beach which is about 10 minutes walk from the main building but you could get a taxi there from the main building, if it was too much for your DH. The beach was free and we enjoyed about 3 hours there before heading back to the ship and getting cleaned up to visit Atlantis.

After showering and grabbing a bite to eat on the ship, we took the water taxi to Atlantis and walked around for a few hours and contributed to the casino:rolleyes: We ended up getting a taxi back to the ship just after 8:00 p.m.

Enjoy your day in Nassau whatever you decide :)

If you are traveling with kids its going to be a hard sell to get them out of atlantis without begging to use the pool slides, thats what the resort is known for. Their beach is also magnificent and very well kept. It might be pricey, but I'm sure its alot less than the price you are paying to chck in at the comfort suites across the street for the wristbands, the bands will allow you complete access to both the beach and the use of all of their magnificent pools, water slides and taxis. I wouldn't eat there though, there are so many better less expensive options on paradise island so if cost is a concern you can always explore that. If you are not going to use the beach and pools, I wouldn't even waste your time spending all that money just to see the resort and aquarium and the like. Atlantis is pure magic in my opinion. My kids still talk about the trip we took there several years ago when they were younger.

You can go to Atlantis via cab, and visit the shops, restaurants, casino (not the kids, tho!) and public areas without paying a penny....it's a hotel, not a theme park! If you want a beach/pool, there are other hotels that offer day passes without that high price...of course, you aren't getting the "water park" feel. There are also public beaches that don't cost a thing.
