travel_please Posted May 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2011 I really appreciate the incredible information on this forum. This is our first time to cruise on Oceania and to have a Veranda cabin. We are excited, but want to have our expectations set properly. We are looking at Deck 7 B4 Veranda cabins. Given the option to either pick a cabin more towards mid-ship (example: 7029) or one of the cabins at the back with the larger deck (example: 7111), what are the pros and cons of either? Specifically, is their significantly less/more noise or movement felt in either location? And, if you have stayed in the cabins with the larger deck, are they worth it? The deck is obviously exposed to everyone above—did you find that awkward?

We had one of these cabins for our upcoming cruise in June, but after reading about the privacy issues and also some mentioned the tunnel vision effect when inside the cabin looking out, we changed to a B3 cabin. Do a search on the Oceania forum and you will find several posts about this problem with the extended balconies.:(
KatieBelle Posted May 30, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2011 Noise from above, below, anywhere was non-existant. Very quiet. Although we didn't have particularly rough seas, we had an extremely smooth ride even in choppy waters. We decided that the lack of privacy was not our problem since we tend to be decent when we step out. We hosted 2 other couples for afternoon wine & cheese on several occasions. The extended balcony was very comfortable for 6 adults. Great times!
travel_please Posted May 30, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted May 30, 2011 I found more information after searching for Extended Balcony (should have tried that first....doh!). For others with the same question, here are some additional reports/conversation on this topic. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1378982
