All Things Explorer of the Seas! -- Part 2

Recommended Posts

When we on the Explorer this past January most of the machines had paper pay out.

We sailed on EOS in November and I think they changed to the TITO method (ticket in - ticket out) while in port at Bermuda. I remember an announcement being made about it as we were docking.

No matter, WE LOVED THE EOS! It was our first cruise and we couldn't have been happier. Almost every day we say to each other "I miss the boat" or when we're feeling blue we simply say "boat" and smile. Looking forward to next year for our 5th anniversary cruise.

Thanks! I look forward to our cruise this fall! Does Ex have any no smoking nights in the casino? Just wondered. On our Princess cruise last May they had 3 from what I recall. It was nice and the Casino was actually more crowded! Thanks.

Yes they have a couple or so of non smoking times! Looked forward to those evenings! We had the best time ever on this ship everyone, crew and passengers were awesome!

THANKS!! I look forward to those nights!!! It is great that the cruise lines have done this!

One other question, just wondering about shampoo/conditioner/soap. Do they have that mixed use liquid on ExOS? Thanks.

Hi,

I was just curious what serious coffee-drinkers' opinions were about the coffee on the ship? I prefer strong coffee.

I'l like to know the same. Also, is true that there are not coffee makers in balconcy rooms?

Another question I have to ask? I have to drink Gatorade (hate it) for electrolites. Would they let me bring a small case of it on board? Would I need a doctors note or should I call ahead? I'm not sure if they make notations like that on our reservations.

I was not impressed with the coffee onboard. I drank it when I was desperate, but it wasn't fabulous, and many times I didn't even find it palatable. Next trip I will be bringing some Starbucks VIA, which isn't my favorite, but it's much better than the ship.

If you are stopping in St. Thomas, there is a Bad Ass Coffee Shop that has fabulous coffee.

IMO the coffee is terrible. I watched them service the machine early one morning. It is a large 5 gallon plastic container of concentrated syrup.

When you put your cup under the machine and press the button, it mixes it with hot water.

VERY DISGUSTING

A machine can service 100's of people a day without servicing, and can get dirty, clogged, etc. Before they clean and service it which is done around 4-5 am when no one is around. (But me)

I love coffee....in the MDR I always ordered Expresso which they have to make fresh, and it is very, very good. You have to pay$, but I am a strong coffee lover and that was very good.

A lot of people are going to say it is very good...but if they saw how it was made...like visiting a sausage factory.

My husband drinks starbucks. God forbid if there is no starbucks. I told him it is seatle's best. One of these day's I plan on switching his coffee to see if he knows the difference. What are the coffee makers like in the GS? I wonder if he can just bring his own to brew.

Thanks, I will definitely be bringing VIA packets then, I guess I will have to go somewhere in the morning to get hot water and creamer as I want to drink it on my balcony and I know there are no makers I that room. I thought I read somewhere that I could fill up on seattles best in the promenade but not sure when that opens in the morning

I'm a big coffee drinker and I always found the coffee in the Promenade Cafe to be just fine. We would go there to fill our cups and we'd take our cups to breakfast with us because coffee in the Windjammer and in the MDR was YUK!!

I'm at my gym every day at 5 am before work...

Why? I have already had one heart attack with a stent placement.

Diabetes, cholesterol, triglycerides all out of whack.

Since then, I have lost 85 lbs, no longer eat things like red meat, exercise everyday.

No longer take any meds, diabetes completely reversed. I am 60 years old and I will go up against anyone 20 years younger.

And I will dance at my Daughter's wedding this coming October.....

But that's another story....not about cruising. Just saying....

Wow good for you - I wish Cruise Critic had a "Like" Button!! Keep up the good work!!

Marie

Anyone take a french press? Is the water hot enough for it?

I personally don't think the water would be hot enough but maybe they could make it hotter. I really wouldn't want to be cleaning the pot out though with the loose coffee grounds in a cabin though. Just my thoughts

Thank you. I wouldn't really mind doing it as hubby really enjoys good coffee, but if they have a Starbucks he'll be ok. I don't drink coffee but every once in a while.
