How early to arrive in port?

My wife & I are leaving in a couple of weeks from Civitivecchia for a two-week cruise on the Legend. We're flying in a couple of days early to spend some time sightseeing in Rome. The information we've seen says boarding begins at 3 pm, with sailing at 5 pm.

Suggestions from the Seabourn-experience folks here on how early we should arrive at the port? We definitely don't want to be the last ones up the gangplank, but also don't want to arrive so early that we've nothing to do in and around the port while we wait.

Our previous cruising experience has been a dozen cruises on the various mid-market lines (mostly Princess, a few RCCL), where they're boarding 2,000 people, which is a very different experience, we suspect.

When on Sojourn recently sailing from Civitavecchia we arrived at the port at 1230pm booked our cases onboard and then took the shuttle back into town.

We went back around 215pm and just walked onboard and straight to our suite.
