megsterl Posted June 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2011 Hi all, I am thinking about taking a cruise out of Boston to Bermuda in a couple of months and have a few questions. One being do the casinos open on this cruise? Also are there any excursions like 4 wheeling or anything like that. and my last question is if you are docking in Kings Wharf for several days are there many places to hangout at night there like clubs and such and is it very hard to get to the other side of the island to explore. Thanks so much in advance for all your help. Meg
william Posted June 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2011 The casinos have to close down while in Bermuda. There is not really much night life in Bermuda. There are a couple of restaurants/Bars at Kings Warf. I think Snorcle Beach also has something at night.
fiftyguy Posted June 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2011 As William said the casinos are closed while you in port, but they open on sea days both down to Bermuda and then back to Boston. I know jetski "tours" are offered where you dock in Bermuda. You might want to check out NCL excursions just to see what is out there that you might enjoy. You don't have to go through them, but it might give you some ideas. At the Dockyard is a place named Snorkel Park. They've started running some kind of night time entertaiment with a $10 cover charge. There's a website for the Dockyard which might help you out - www.thewestend.bm I see you've been to the Caribbean a bit and Bermuda is a little quieter and more reserved. It still is a great place to visit at least once.
SailBadtheSinner Posted June 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2011 megsterl asked: ....is it very hard to get to the other side of the island to explore?..... Actually, it is quite easy if there are no problems with the ferry. All you do is when you leave the ramp to the wharves, take a left. The ferry dock is about 2 minutes away. Of course, you would have already bought your multi day transportation pass or tokens at the Visitors' Information Centre located on each wharf. The ride to St George (town at other end of island) is about 45 minutes on the fast ferry. The only down side is the frequency of round trips so make sure you have picked up a bus schedule at VIC. I wanted to provide the link to the ferry summer schedule but the site is not co-operating; so here is a pic of the Dockyard - St George summer schedule of 4/11 (there may have been some minor tweaks in the schedule since release date, but they were not for reduction in service): You could always take a bus to get there but that would be very time consuming.
