Allure of the Seas by the letters

Recommended Posts

Just got off a great Allure cruise and, since many of my pictures look a lot like pictures that have already been posted by others, I thought I'd try something different. I wandered around the ship taking pictures of stylized letters of the alphabet, looking for one of every letter of the (English) alphabet. I did some cutting and pasting in Photoshop and put them all on one picture.

You may ask why I would bother with this (go ahead...ask). I thought it would be a fun trivia test for the members of Cruise Critic to figure out where each letter came from. Many of these letters can be found on both Oasis and Allure. A few are on Allure only, and some are also found on ships in other classes. Some letters are the beginning of a word, and some are not. Some are shown against their natural background, and some were extractrd from their natural background and put on a generic background so that they wouldn't be as easy to identify. All are sufficiently unique that I believe there is only one correct answer or each letter. Because I put these in a 6 X 5 grid, I also had room for 4 "bonus" icons.

Can you tell me where these letters/icons are from?

You did pretty well, especially for not having been on the Allure yet. :) I marked the ones that you got wrong in red above. You were actually correct in what you said with THING 4, but the judges want you to be more specific.

Who can fill in the remaining letters?

Great concept, I think I could have gotten many of these the week after my cruise, but some of the small details are fading, so I need another cruise.

Excellent logic. Clearly, it's time for a vacation.

Z = Blaze

first icon = Serenity day spa

last icon = Star Pier

I thought "A" was Adagio dining room not Amber theatre

Ahhh...someone who has been studying lately. Correct on Blaze and Star Pier. Close on the day spa...it's Vitality, not Serenity...the judges will allow it. The A is definitely Amber Theater.

G: GUESS Store

N is on top of the Bow & Stern Bar

P: pinwheels

W: Rock Climbing Wall

Y: Candy Beach

Thing 2: In Focus (Photo Store)

Correct on all counts. I think the thing above the Bow & Stern was called Neptune's something or other (hence the N). It's where the walkway unfolds that's used for lots of Royal Promenade events like the Captain's welcome event and 70's night. Anyone know the official name of this thing?

Are you by any chance a Graphic Designer?

This looks like one of their projects.

Thanks but no, I'm not a graphics designers. I'm thoroughly impressed with the ability of a graphics designer to take some shapes, colors, and letters and arrange them in a way that looks great. I'm not that creative. I'm an engineer who can crop parts of pictures in perfect squares and then arrange them in a grid in Photoshop. If there's any artisitic value in what I created, it's purely based on the luck of arranging things in alphabetical order.

You're right Michelle...the M is from Smile, the portrait place on the Boardwalk. You also got the X from Exit. Your other guesses missed the mark though.

Is the M from the coMedy club?

Damm, he beat me to it, must be our common Irish blood.

Sorry, but Michelle got the M right with Smile. I probably should have said in the beginning that I didn't use a letter from the same sign more than once, and we already have the E from Comedy Live.

Ding, ding, ding...another winner.

THING 2: Focus logo

THING 3:

THING 4: Star Pier

Only 3 left. I guessed from the beginning that T and Thing 3 would be the hardest, so I'll toss out a few hints. I'd guess that almost everyone on the ship sees Thing 3 everyday. It's in a very common area. The T however is just the opposite. Many people may never see it (although everyone can, i.e. it's not on the Bridge or part of a backstage tour) and not many people do anything at the T venue. In all fairness, I should also point out that the L is not actually on the ship.
