tashaw1234 Posted June 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2011 Has anyone done this excursion in Aruba? We are on a Princess cruise in Dec and our 9 year old has always wanted to go on a pirate ship, just don't want to be disappointed. Any advice would be appreciated. thank you. 6rugrats Posted June 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I really would not recommend snorkeling the Antilla wreck for a nine year old. The water can be quite choppy and current strong. Water clarity also is not always the best. You need to be a strong swimmer. Suggest you go to Boca Catalina and just snorkel.

6rugrats Posted June 15, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2011 You're welcome. Snorkeling in Aruba really is not that great. If your daughter wants "go on a pirate ship", you could take her to the Bucuti. The Pirate's Nest is shaped like a ship, and lunch isn't too bad there:
FawnRiver Posted July 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2011 If your itinerary includes St. Thomas, you might want to try the Pirate Schooner to Turtle Cove snorkel excursion. The crew on the ship is great - very professional, the cove is nice and calm and a member of the crew takes you around the cove, pointing things out - lots of fish, turtles and corals. We were there last January and there were some children around that age with our tour and they (& us) had a great time.
Arubalisa Posted July 3, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2011 You can always take your daughter on the Jolly Pirates http://www.jolly-pirates.com/ ship. There is nothing that says she has to get into the water at the Antilla. There are two other stops on the lunch cruise snorkel where the water is tranquil and she will get the pirate experience. I'd agree with Lisa. We liked Jolly Pirates so much we went twice! The two snorkel sites we went to were very easy, and we were probably lucky when we went to the Antilla, as it was pretty calm those days and neither of us had any problems. One of you might want to get out and swim around, then decide if it is above her skill/comfort level. After lunch they have a swing rope from the bow. She might enjoy seeing Mommy or Daddy doing that:).
