JHCALLAHAN Posted June 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2011 Read the departure time and place VERY CAREFULLY!!! We were taking one to Stingray City on Cayman, saw Departs 9:00 AM, so we were in the lounge at 8:45 at the latest. WRONG!!!! If you read it carefully it departed the LOUNGE at 8:15 and the PIER at 0900!!!! We missed our excursion. It all worked out well as it turned out, Carnival gave us a refund and set us up with at least a similar excursion later. READ YOUR TICKET CAREFULLY! While we were waiting to tender in the lounge another couple came in to talk to the excursion personnel, and they had done the exact same thing with a different excursion. It's somewhat confusing when there are TWO departure times on the ticket! Fair winds, JHC
Catrin Posted June 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2011 I am sure many CC members, especially first timers, will THANK YOU for that tip! This is a perfect example of why I love CC. tef43 Posted June 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2011 Read the departure time and place VERY CAREFULLY!!!Why *wouldn't* you? :confused:READ YOUR TICKET CAREFULLY! Again, why *wouldn't* you? The mind boggles seeing all of the people oblivious to what they should be doing. Sometimes you wonder if they are truly able to dress themselves in the morning. Seems to me the oblivious ones are the Carnival people who thought that would be a good idea. It wasn't as you put it. They were to meet at 8:15 (read incorrectly by OP) in the lounge, and then escorted to the pier for the 9:00 excursion. After a day of Carnival fun in the sun on vacation I can see where it could be misunderstood. OP isn't blaming anyone but himself, and just posting a simple warning... if it could happen to him, it could happen to you too kind of thing. We're not all always on our 'A' game when it comes to reading comprehension, up to and including myself.

On my canada cruise last septermber, all of my excursion tickets had one time and one departure point. Here is what is written on a ticket: Departs From: Depart Time there was no meeting time..Even the behind the fun tickets had the same thing

Simple facts from experienced cruisers helping others. Glad it worked out OK for you! Catrin Thank you, and to MOST everyone else. That was certainly my intent. If you step in a hole in the trail, you just naturally want to warn those behind you to WATCH OUT FOR THAT HOLE! :D I must give kudos to Carnival. I was expecting a "Too bad" and no refund of our missed excursion. We had a total of six in our party, so that would have been some $$$$ .Must chalk up one reason to book a Carnival excursion (though I usually book my own). As for the other guy, what can you say? There's at least one in every crowd. ;) Fair winds, JHC
BlueJacketsFan1 Posted June 27, 2011 #18 Share Posted June 27, 2011 We always try to be where we are to be way earlier that they tell us. Some times you have to be careful with the times during your excursion. We were in St. John at Trunk Bay and they told us to be in the parking lot at 15 mins. till. We got back at 20 mins. till and the tranport was gone. We had to get someone else to get us back to the boat back to St. Thomas. All the times we have sat around waiting for other to get back on buses after the times they tell you to be back by. Then we were the ones to get leaved behind and we were 5 mins. early. kelly11 Posted June 27, 2011 #23 Share Posted June 27, 2011 That is awesome that they were able to give you a later tour, we all loved the stingrays in GC, have done that twice and this Oct will be 3 times :) We booked through a private company and not Carnival, but it was really great that they were able to help you out. Did they send you on another stingray excursion or something else?
Th3BuffetAssassin Posted June 27, 2011 #24 Share Posted June 27, 2011 Years ago I dropped a ticket leaving the room going down to the gangway. Got outside and the tour was leaving soon so I told the tour operator. Instead of back tracking to the room we went over to a carnival tour rep and they took my folio/room number then gave me the tour braclet. Didn't get charged and everything turned out ok. I just wish I was perfect.:(
