Rysyonok Posted June 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2011 I read in a recently published tour book that on cruise days there is a water taxi service available in Castries to take passengers from cruise terminal to downtown Castries. Has anyone had any experience with that? Thank you :)
reedprincess Posted June 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2011 the cruise terminal is actually located directly in Castries town. The "water taxi/ferry/ takes you from one dock to the other, saing about a 5-10 minute walk from Pointe Seraphine to La Place Carenage. The ferry takes close to the same time as walking, only you have to wait till the ferry driver feels the boat is full enough to leave each dock. Trust me, walk and save yourself the $5Us per person for the ferry. If you docked at La Place Carenage, you are across the street from the main areas of the city and about 3 minutes to your left from the craft market, some local eateries, etc. The ferry is nice, but all you are getting is crossing between the 2 ship docks. Rysyonok Posted June 27, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted June 27, 2011 Reedprincess, thank you for your response. Is walking from Pointe Seraphine to La Place Carenage easy and safe? Are there any concerns to watch out for?
reedprincess Posted July 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2011 very easy to walk between the 2 shopping centers and very safe, you will go past the Castries craft market - some great bargains can be found in there. Also, as you pass the craft market and get near La Place Caranage, you will be hit up by taxi drivers and tour operators. A firm, polite no works wonders. You simply have to follow the water line of the harbor - pretty much can't get lost! From Pointe Seraphine, head out, hang a right and follow the sidewalk and harbor around to La Pace Caranage. Enjoy your trip.

chelsearay Posted January 26, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2014 just in case we would want to take the ferry... where would we find it? is it marked well?
reedprincess Posted January 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 26, 2014 just in case we would want to take the ferry... where would we find it? is it marked well? It is a boat plying between the two docks, literally a 5 minute boat ride. The "ferry" is right at the dock, no signage really, but if you don't see it right off, just ask on of the security folks all along the pier.
