Question(s) about Carnival Pride

Recommended Posts

Just joined the board today, so there might already be a similar thread that I haven't found ... We're sailing on the Pride 11/6 to Bermuda. We've done late dining on our previous two cruises (Grand Princess, Carnival Destiny) and I remember missing the big shows most of the time. Can any recent Pride cruisers can tell me what time the shows start and if they do a second show for the late diners? I love the luxury of relaxing on the balcony and taking my time getting ready for dinner, rather than racing back to the ship and rushing to get to the early dinner on time.

Also, we'll be getting a suite for the first time, which I'm very excited about! (First cruise we had an inside cabin, second one was outside with balcony.) We're in category OS on Deck 6 this time around. Anybody familiar with those staterooms?

We sailed the Pride back in Nov. 2009 and had Anytime Dining. I now choose this option for all my cruises. But to answer your show time question.... MOST nights there are TWO shows scheduled, one at approx. 8-8:30pm (for early diners) and another at 10-10:30pm (for late diners)

How does anytime dining work? Does that mean you just show up whenever you want to? Is there a long wait for a table? Does that mean you don't sit with the same people each time? I've never heard of this option until our Carnival agent asked me which dining option we prefer and I told her I guess we'd keep our traditional late seating. Thanks!

We love anytime dining. We've never had a wait longer than a couple of minutes and it was always just the two of us sitting together. Unlike waiting for your table of a big group, you just show up and get seated. It was like going out to a nice restaurant every night. I would never choose another dining option.

That is the same cruise I will be on. You are going to love the Suite...especially the VIP boarding.

Hey Melanie! This cruise is my birthday present from my husband, so we decided to upgrade to the suite! Yes, the VIP boarding will be a big plus, and I'm really happy about not having to fly down to Fla., so I don't have to worry about what I can/can't carry on a plane, will our flight be delayed, etc. Plus, we save on airfare since we live less than an hour from Baltimore!

Did you opt for the late dining or early dining? One poster told me there's also an "anytime dining" option that I want to learn more about. Ever been to Bermuda? I was there when I was 11 (my parents took me on a cruise on the Greek Line Olympia back in the '70s), and I remember it was just beautiful.

Yes you can eat at whatever time you want. We only waited one time about 10 minutes, but other than that we were just escorted right in. You can request the same wait staff if you want to but then you might have to wait a little while. We didn't request but did end up with the same crew. We were a party of four and were always seated at a table by ourselves, but I hear you can request to be seated with others.

Here's a Photosynth (a panoramic picture you can move around in, like a virtual tour) of Carnival Pride cabin 6173 (OS):

You're going to love it! The whirlpool tub is nice. So is the extra little "dressing room" area outside of the bathroom. Lots of closet and drawer space - bring all the luggage you want to!:D

As others have said, your wait for anytime dining is usually not very long (if at all).

After our first dining night, we were quite happy with our waiter and his staff, so for the remainder of the cruise we requested him (Christian) each night. (You can do this, just tell the seating attendent that you want to be seated at {waiters name} area)

You can call carnival and ask now to be switched to Anytime. If it's available, they will switch you.

We did a Bermuda cruise on RCL in 2007. LOVED Bermuda. Would recommend you take a tour of the island itself. --- We grabbed a local tour guide --- right outside the ship ---- and (after he collected his minimum 8 passengers) he took us on a long 3-4 hour tour. Very Informative.

Also suggest you visit the Frog and Onion Pub. It's a local bar (local beer) right next to the pier (walking distance)

Finally, we took a water taxi into Hamilton (we docked in Bermuda for 2 days) and spent the day walking and sightseeing there, also quite interesting.

Those sound like some great ideas. We're getting into Bermuda on a Tuesday at 1 p.m. and leaving Thursday at 3:30 p.m., so that should give us a nice chance to see quite a bit of the island (and hopefully get in some good beach time if the weather is still warm enough in November). I like your idea of getting a local guide. The Carnival-sponsored tours are pretty costly, and I imagine probably stick to a fairly rigid schedule. I also read that there's a really nice snorkeling reef within walking distance of the cruise terminal, which sounds like a great option for our last day since we'll be close to ship. I'd hate to miss our ride home! (Well, maybe not. LOL)

Slightly off topic, how do you guys get those great cruise countdown boxes to show up in your replies? I thought I set one up when I created my account yesterday, but it doesn't seem to be showing up... :)

There's a link at the top of this page or click on this link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=434

Hi there,

We are going on our very first Carnival cruise in September on Carnival Pride!! It won't be our first cruise, we've been on 7 previous cruises and thought it was time to try Carnival ;)

We also booked the Ocean Suite on deck 6 and are very excited to see how it is. I just have one question though.....by pictures I have seen it looks like the lifeboats below us on deck 5 will block our view of looking straight down into the water and onto the pier when we are in ports. But it's not a major issue, when you're on a balcony you ususally look out NOT down right?? ;)

We sailed the Pride back in Nov. 2009 and had an extended balcony on Deck 6. We did have lifeboats below us that did block our view --- a bit. I didn't find it a big deal. But if you are interested I made a 10 min "movie" of our cruise on the Pride. There are a couple of shots showing those lifeboats.
