Drinks on Us Program

What irks me about Carnival casino perks is that they only count points for slot machines.

In order to be rated on the tables, you have to bet $25 minimum hands and play for at least 4 hours at a time. Otherwise, no points.

My husband likes to play Texas hold 'em, which they no longer have at an actual table. All they have are the computerized poker tables. My husband easily plays 3 hours a day on these things, betting far more than $25 hands. But you earn no points, or get rated at all, when you use these machines.

Just seems like if they're going to offer something like this, they ought to be fair about it.

Casino's dont make a bundle on poker tables. They make what is called a RAKE, which can be as little as 50 cents a hand played to a max of $6. They automaticly take this from the pot before the winner is payed.

Not sure what the RAKE is on criuse ships are but they are not a big money maker but more of a convienence while your better half is filling the slot coffers. They dont have to provide a dealer, just a person to wipe it clean and bring you drinks. Slots can get a profit of $3 every couple of seconds. Dont get me wrong, I like to gamble and the thought of only getting 2X odds at the craps table discourages me from dropping more in the casino's on ships, I will still play some but will never drop enough to get DRINKS ON US..... 62 days to go.....GLORY HERE WE COME.....

As a stockholder who loves my $ 100 obc for each cruise I encourage people to drink and play.

People can do what they wish but amazes me to see people throwing money into the slots as fast as they can.

Casino's are great at making people forget the odds while playing games.

Very funny but NO... You have to play to obtain the 1500 points and its the # of spins, not the dollar amount...

Lets just say you start with $20 and get really lucky and keep winning and keep playing... you are thus adding up the points... Now lets say you start with $20 but don't win a thing... you put another $20 in the machine and another but still not winning big but keep pushing that button all the time adding up the points...

So, if I made any sense at all, its not really the amount you put into the machine as much as how many spins you play that will get you to the 1500 points... Of course it also takes less spins if you're playing a $1 machine as compared to the penny machine, but again, its all adds up to the # of spins on each machine...

Thank you for explaining. I am not a gambler by any means, but I do enjoy playing the slot machines a little while cruising. I guess no free drinks (or anything else) for me!

I wonder if the coin-in is the same as Princess where $1 "coin-in" equals 1 point. If you hit a hot machine and keep cycling the same money through, over and over again, $20 can easily equal $100 or more of coin-in.

So are you saying you DID get free drinks on the Ecstasy and that it was a Players Club freebie vs. a Carnival thing? I didn't think about that... :o

Always contact the Carnival Players club before you cruise. My husband and I usually play the tables so don't rack up points like you would at the slots, but even though we don't play high stakes, we spend a considerable amout of time in the casino each day and they now take that into consideration.

Though we have never gotten the "Drinks on us" card, we do get Bon Voyage baskets and casino cash.

Make sure to introduce yourself to the the pit boss and asked to be rated at the begining of your cruise.

On Carnival $2.50 in gives 1 point, except video poker which is (I believe) $5 in for 1 point

As a regular table player, the $25 level has always been a magic number in most casinos. On the islands in the Caribbean they do the same thing.

If you're betting less then your not a "high roller". The strip in Veags used to be $25, but in recent years it seems even that level of play doesn't interest a lot of places.

Of course, playing table games and drinking is a deadly combination for your bankroll. I am a craps player. Drinking adversely affects my ability to influence the dice. I once watched a nice profit disappear because I got too high. Now, I gamble or I drink. Not at the same time.

Tom might have gotten a comped cruise from Celebrity, but it certainly was not free. My first cruise WAS free because I won enough to cover it.

When you go into a casino I think we all want to win, but few of us go prepared to do that. When I bought my own craps table, the DW thought I was nuts. She made me keep it in the garage. Now, it's in the den. She loves to brag about my exploits.

Anyway, play to win. Drink after. Use the winnings to pay for them. Saavy?!;)

Does Carnival own the casino or is the space leased out to outside contractor?

I think Carnival runs their own casino..But I know that Harrah's runs the casinos on NCL.....If you gamble a lot at a Harrah's casino sometimes they will send you on a free cruise....Dennis

I have to hand it to Celebrity - by throwing a comped cruise my way, they "bought" my (casino) action. It was a VERY good investment on their part!
