Stacedawg Posted July 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2011 We are leaving on the Freedom of the Seas on Sunday and going to Labadee, Haiti, Cozumel, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman. I looked at the 10 day forecast for each island and for each of them it says scaattered storms all week. I am gonna be devastated if it rains the whole time! Should I be worried or are those just like the storms in FL in the summertime?
Rancher Dave Posted July 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2011 This time of year most storms are short lived...you may have a perfect day and at 3 pm see a big bad T-storm that is gone by 330 or 4pm...typical in the Tropics this time of year...nothing to destroy vacation. Should I be worried or are those just like the storms in FL in the summertime? They are very similar unless you are talking about a hurricane or a tropical storm that could develop into a hurricane. Scattered storms or showers are just that: scattered and frequently brief, and it is very unlikely that it will rain anywhere for the whole time. You can't control the weather and 10 day forecasts are usually not very reliable, so I wouldn't waste time and energy worrying about them.:)

Hobiecat01 Posted July 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2011 Hi Stacedawg, We just returned from the Serenade of the Seas on a southern Caribbean itinerary. The forcast was the same. We did get a few showers (one poured down on us at St. Kitts and was gone in 3 minutes!) We encountered some rough seas Sat (July 2nd) and were battered pretty much our entire sea day coming back. The crew toldd us this was very odd to encounter such seas. Overall the weather was fine and did not hinder us at all. Besides, the FOS is a good bit larger than the SOS and will weather rough seas much better. --------------------- Sea ya! cb at sea Posted July 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2011 That's the standard forecast for tropical climes! If it does rain, it's usually short lived and is always warm! No worries!
