Public Beach in Nassau or Paradise Isle ?

Any advise on an easy public beach to hang out for the morning in Nassau? We are only there til 2pm, so I figured a few hours at the beach is about our best bet.

Cabbage beach has no entry fee and is about 5 dollars per person to get there in a shared taxi. The beach is beautiful.

if you google Cabbage Beach, there are numerous warnings on every page that comes up about how strong the undertow and rip currents are, and how dangerous swimming at the beach is. I just read a page of reviews from people who had near-drowning experiences and had to be rescued - ended up in the hospital and missed the rest of their cruise. One person separated her shoulder, another's young son was carried out to sea and was rescued by a jet skier.

 

Too risky to go there, even if it is gorgous!
