Reimer Posted July 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2011 Hello I was curious if anyone knew if there are any decent Bermuda guide books. If anyone is familiar with the Hawaii Revealed guidebooks, I am looking for something similar to this for Bermuda. Does anyone know if something like this exists for Bermuda? Thanks. family cruisers Posted July 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2011 Fodors or Frommers ? Any library has them. Also , they have the travel size books once your off the ship in bermuda. Hope this helps . I also love to check out the Royal Gazette online (Bermudas newspaper).
Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted July 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2011 I have an Insight Guide to Bermuda. It's more about history and atmosphere than practical tourist info. But if you want to get the flavor of a place, the Insight Guides are nice. For practical stuff, I like Fodors. Or try the Bermuda tourism website. Reimer Posted July 13, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted July 13, 2011 Beats ALL the other guides, IMO Yeah I was looking at this particular one yesterday and it seemed like a pretty decent guide. We're just thinking one might come in handy when we are out and about travelling. However we have found in the past that sometimes they don't really come in handy and other times like Hawaii last year they were awesome and pointed us in the direction of stuff we otherwise wouldn't have seen. I'll take a closer in depth look at the moon one. Thanks for the help everyone.
32N64W Posted July 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2011 Hi all, The best resources are, in fact, free. There are two free handbooks available when you get here, called This Week In Bermuda and Bermuda.com GUIDE. They are pocket sized books with current as well as general information. They both have websites: http://www.thisweek.bm/ and http://www.bermuda.com/ Another excellent book is Experience Bermuda. The full version (it's a hardback book) is only available in the hotels, but they have shorter versions for Dockyard and St. George's, which are available free. Their site is: http://www.experiencebermuda.com/ There is also a site mostly about Dockyard and the West End, here: http://www.thewestend.bm/ Hope that helps! Have Fun! Awesome this will be a huge help. So far all I have to work with is random threads here and an interactive island map.
let'sgocruising Posted July 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 13, 2011 I usually go to my local library and get a few guidebooks and possibly a DVD. I may take a few highlight attraction notes from the books or make a few copies and bring them with me while traveling. I find it much easier traveling with a few notes or pieces of paper in my pocket than bringing and carrying books around. As an extra guide, check out the library on the ship. Have a great trip.
