woodbury girl Posted July 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2011 Would love some feedback on the ship's shore excursions for this voyage. We are considering a private guide for Florence but if the ship tour is good we may take it because it is expensive for two. Also interested in tours on the other stops - are they good or just so so. Wendy The Wanderer Posted July 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2011 You may want to list your ports here, so everybody doesn't have to go and look it up over at rssc.com.
woodbury girl Posted July 14, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted July 14, 2011 The ports I am most interested in are Provence, Monte Carlo, and Florence.
Rare RachelG Posted July 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2011 Our Marseilles port was cancelled due to a French strike, so can't speak to that port. We boarded in Monte Carlo. And because of the cancellation of Marseilles, we had an extra day there, so did a ship's tour to St. Paul de Vence which we thoroughly enjoyed. The bus just takes you there and you are on your own to explore. Definitely our kind of tour. We have also been to Eze on our own and really liked it. We have spent several days in Nice--you could do this on your own or on a ship's tour. The Matisse and Chagall museums are must sees for anyone who likes art at all. Also just enjoyed walking through the market and along the beachside promenade. Have been to Florence on a land trip--would not do as a shore excursion as the drive there and back is too long--basically 2 hrs each way. Pisa and Lucca are much closer and well worth your exploration. The ship tour to Pisa, Lucca and Puccini was very good.
