Curiosity Question..... Cabin Shares?

I met someone on my Westerdam Med cruise last fall who was doing the cabin share. She was quite surprised when she got onboard to find that she actually had a roommate -- when she checked with HAL about a week before sailing, she still had not been matched with anyone so she assumed that she'd have a cabin to herself. I guess it would be a bit of a shock not to know in advance.

I was very happy, hearing her story, to have my own cabin all to myself. :) Not that they didn't do okay together for the length of the cruise, but I gather it was just a bit awkward.

Even amongst my friends and relatives there are few people I'd want to share with; I can't imagine sharing with a stranger.
