New Smoking Policy..did you see this part?

well..we never book balconies because of the smoking...which will only increase on the balconies now....

and we never are able to enjoy certain venues..or spend money there..like the Piano Bar...

so unless all the entertainment venues go non smoking..I guess will will not be booking another CCL cruise...oh wait...

our last cruise was NCL..no indoor smoking entertainment venues..so we spent some bucks..

our next cruise is PCL (yes, I know who the parent company is)...so let's see if the new smoking policy there is to our liking...maybe..maybe not..let's just see

regardless, I have said it here many times...the times are changing..and before your know it...cruise ships will mirror land based smoking policies...just a matter of time..thankfully

God God...what a crock of misinformation on here...

FYI>>> we NON smokers pretty much "won">> as of June 15, Carnival limited the smoking areas on board..as of Dec 1st...they will no longer allow smoking inside any cabins, but will allow both cigarette and cigar smoking outside

Practically speaking...I feel balconies will be LESS desirable but outsides/insides and portholes more desirable for non smokers

Outside areas are still there for smokers..that didn't change

lots of nice places on the ship are non smoking even before...the serenity area and the aft adult pools were already non smoking

as of June 15,...the piano bars are NON smoking...YIPPEE...this is the best news for me, also all the sports bars and the big "cigar" bars are now non smoking. I think they will redo/rename the former cigar bars...my guess is a red frog pub

On all the ships the "disco" (dance club) will be smoking and a part of the casino is smoking...but they have to be playing while they smoke

On the "Conquest" Class ships...and Destiny Triumph and Victory...there is an addiitional smoking indoor lounge...the "Jazz Club":> (formerly the kareoke bar/club....it is an aft lounge...different name on every ship but not the big aft lounge where they do comedy, that is still non smoking)

On the Dream class (new) ships...no other indoor smoking

they also have "spa level" cabins where they can not smoke on the balcony....they do cost more $$

Now...the sweet news for non smokers...when you think about it.....on the older ships that didn't get all the balconies added....there are not many places to smoke at all...and I think eventually smokers won't even book these very much <grin>

Lets look at Imagination....only 60 balconies...which are more expensive "suites" or so called.....wow....that is a lot of non smoking levels cause no smoking in any inside or outside or porthole cabin

Unfortunately they are restricting the "vapers" ..the e-cigs...which I would not care if people puffed on as they don't smell. It is none of my business if people wish to harm their own health or injest nicotine or other drugs or bite their nails or eat glue or pull their hair out....I really don't care....

but I personally hate the stench of cigarettes and cigars and I hate to smell like them, they hurt my eyes, (I have allergies and sensitive eyes, blue eyes)...they make my head hurt and I am delighted that there are more places for me to go where I can enjoy things without smelling them

I sailed on NCL and really liked having the piano bars/bars non smoking

So for the misinformation....geeze please learn what you are talking about thanks

My family is thrilled with this new policy...any restriction is better than none. We all suffer from asthma and the liberal smoking policy of the past was always hard for us to deal with especially in the casino. Last cruise we left the casino when it got crowded because of the smoke. Many of the players at the card tables sat right next to you and puffed away all night...not tolerable. As the evenings got later many young adults just hung out in the bar area of the casino and smoked. They did not even gamble just smoked and drank. I am also glad they did away with smoking in the rooms including balconies because so many people smoked in their rooms you could smell it down the hallways. I often wondered why they did not make certain decks smoking and others nonsmoking...or at least part of the deck. It was always horrible to get a cabin after a smoker just moved out. I hope all the cruiselines adopt a stricter smoking policy...I think they should allow smoking it outside areas only...period!!!

Balconies are not included in the non smoking areas

But it was okay when YOU smoked. You should be MORE understanding than one who never smoked and does not understand the addiction. Congrats on vaping, but don't take it out on us. It sounds like you really are not ready to be a non smoker.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. What I meant was that if a place is smoking that is fine with me and I will still be in attendance but to say that I have to go to a "smoking section" to vape when I'm not smoking is crazy. I have no problem with smokers or having smoking venues. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear.

sharecruises, Thanks for the up date info on the smoking. I agree with you on what other people want to do with their bodies, but I don't want to be around for a long period of time around a smoker. I will be with you in the piano bar. I like Jazz but I don't think I will be in there to long. I was in a casino at a table and a lady sat down next to me and right away she takes out a pack of smokes. She asked if I mind if she smoked. I said i would you rather didn't. So what does she do lights up any way, Why ask if you are going to do it any way. Some smokers are rud I said some not all. They could care less who is around them. I use to be a smoker and I NEVER even smoked in my house. I went outside. SWell any way have a good cruise.

According to the new smoking policy on Carnival's website it states:

"All Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment."

I read this to mean you can not smoke in any staterooms or balconies period. They go on to state that you will be fined $250.00 if smoke is in your cabin.

I am with Packerfan, I have probably saved hundreds of dollars by leaving the casino because of smokers, especially ones that sit right next to you at a table.

If I have saved money because of smoking then Carnival has lost money!!!

Those SPA cabins are only available on the Splendor and newer ships.. no smoking in any cabin will take effect in Dec.. but smoking on regular balconies will still be allowed..

Well....I do think I am psychic LOL>>>

I have long predicted these changes....and I predicted that Destiny would need a total overhaul which they are eventually going to in 2013 (way overdue).....

and now I also predict that as the ships are drydocked we will see more changes...

my guess is >>> first they will turn the former cigar bars into red frog pubs..

then they will eventually add "spacabins" or levels to all the ships...along with a revamp of the spas

They will be able to 1) charge more for the non smoking spa balconies...and 2) charge a weekly /daily fee for the "upgraded spa".....

I do have mixed feelings about that....I am not fond of the idea of paying extra for "spa" use.

Oh another prediction....in 5 years....all cruiselines will be about like Celebrity....or even Oceania....very few indoor smoking places, no smoking any cabin or balcony......maybe even 3 years

I think it would be smart for the cruiselines to allow e-cigs...and/or even sell them in the gift shop.

As a non-smoker, I like some of the changes.

What I was hoping for was smoking on starboard side of ship only .

We always book the port side. Sounds like any balcony is okay to lite up out there.

I love my balcony, but now may have to share with the smokers.:(.

I don't understand this part. People have always been allowed to smoke on their balcony.

Packerfan4-Hope that 4 isn't what I think it is. You can't be a packerfan and still like the number 4 you need to like the number 12. Just kidding you and trying to lighten this up a bit.

Yes I am a big Packer fan. I still likeBrett. I do need to change it to 12. i will do it soon.

GO PACK

I agree..the issue with her lighting up while next to you wasn't that she lit up..because it was an area that smoking is allowed..BUT..then don't ask if you don't really care what the person has to say.

As for the original reason for this thread. I don't smoke at all. I personally don't like being around it..BUT..I don't have an issue with the E-Cigs at all. I work with someone who uses one..he got permission to use it while at work. And I have no issue sitting next to him at work because I don't smell a thing.

Personally, I think the problem with e-cig happened when they named them. I understand they did it to get smokers attention but it has put e-cig in the sam catagory as reg. cig because not a lot of people are educated on them and lump them together

This means ecigs are restricted from being used in your cabin. Ridiculous.

The vapor is completely gone within 30 seconds of exhale, there's no nicotine yellowing on anything, no odor in clothes, bedclothes, curtains, carpets, walls, the vapor is gone so quick there's no chance of an adjoining cabin having a clue.

So how exactly do they intend to enforce this in cabins? Cameras?

I don't think the beards need any more of the CRACK THEY'RE SMOKIN!

I totally agree! Hubby and I rented a car and drove across the country..of course they are no smoking...but we used our e-cigs and not a trace of any odor nothing whatsoever, so I dont see why you couldnt use your e-cigs in your cabin its NOT smoking

We've got 3 cruises coming up before the end of the year and I'll be interested to see if they really try to banish the e-cig users to smoking areas. I plan to use mine until I'm told I can't....I'll be back on here to report after the cruises.
