CGTNORMANDIE Posted March 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2005 I was just looking at the Cruise Critic Deals and I have noticed that a lot of sailings that were previously closed out now have openings. I am thinking that the new pricing policy has created a "last minute" availablility of cabins. Seems that some of the big online agents are unable to fill all of their block bookings so when the $$ is called in there are cabins available. What are your thoughts??? cruiseyguy Posted March 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2005 You're right and it seems to be happening with several lines, including luxury lines. Some great deals are there if you can leave on 30 days' notice.
MISSYLOU Posted March 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2005 I have found the same thing to be true. Lots of great deals out there.
Riotgrl13 Posted March 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2005 please email me where you found these great deals: martina.dillon@macdill.af.mil
cruiseyguy Posted March 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2005 There is no one place to find these deals. You have to do some digging-go to the websites of the agencies that allow you to do automated searches and bookings for certain lines. Check out various close-in cruises on these sites. Compare prices (per diems, not totals). Also look at the websites of the lines which post prices, such as Celebrity. Not only will you find some "deals" but highly desirable cabins, such as FVs, will suddenly be available.
dedlaw Posted March 23, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Remember the downside -- late bookings often mean paying a premium for the airfare, and the total may end up worse than planning in advance.
catmand Posted March 23, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Airfare be darned, I would drive/train/walk if we could fit this in our schedule......how about 14 days a B2B in an ocean view for under $1200 a person. athis was a special ina mailing for the "great northwest" hint, hint. I thought the B2B would be a nice touch and get around what may be that very high airfare on just a 7 day. I think there may just be too many berths in some of the cruising areas like this one?? The deals are out there, that's for sure.
cruiseyguy Posted March 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Another hint: good airfares can be found close in with the discount carriers and from alternative airports-don't stick with the "legacy"carriers.
