Anyone else coming? Gee - first Athens, now Oslo - what's next? Afraid to ask... Good luck!
Nigella Posted July 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2011 Silver Spirit is underway to Piraeus right now, due to arrive in a few hours. It will be interesting to see if she does actually dock there.
Nigella Posted July 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2011 Heard news via a friend of a friend that all is ok at Piraeus today - the only problem is the heat, apparently.

duct tape Posted August 11, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted August 11, 2011 We are here! Rocky but here. Our transfer time to the connecting flight was 10 min! but since the flight was delayed 1/2 hr, we made it as well as our luggage. Amazing! All is well on the Wind. Capt Palmieri, Colin, CD, Bertrand, HD, Gilbert, maitre'd and Richard, Chef. There are 260 guests, the ship is chock-a-block including multiple children. Will see how the pool gets used today. All port days for a while so it may calm down by the time a seaday gets here. The weather in Rhodes today is low 80s with great breezes, better than home! Santorini tomorrow. Thanks for the update--sounds a bit nerve-racking, but glad to hear you have settled in. How were things in Athens--getting to Pireaus, etc.? duct tape Posted August 12, 2011 Author #12 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Yesterday was interesting and, luckily, we slept through most of it. As we left Rhodes, the winds and the seas got fairly rough. The Capt decided to skip Santorini and seek shelter in the harbor at Milos. Good move. We have spent the day here and will sail later so the wind and sea will have less affect on dinner, show, etc. We will go to Santorini tomorrow. It would have been a nightmare in the Santorini caldera since it is completely open, the ship cannot anchor due to the depth and there are no piers. So for excitement, the Captain pursued 2 MayDay calls and got to one before the Coast Guard and the CG got to the other first. We were dismissed from both scenes but the officers and crew are bushed but they continue to function at an extremely high level with big smiles. Bless them all. The children and teens aboard appear to have genuine adult supervision and they have not been disruptive. All is well.
