Diamond Princess Embarkation Lunch?

We are sailing on this Sat., and wondered if the dining room will be open for lunch when we board. We know the Horizon Court will be open but we would love to eat lunch in the dining room the first day. Thanks!

Only the Horizon Court is open, and if you get there early, you will be able to find a table. There's no trays to carry your food, so you'll have to make a couple of trips to get everything that you would like to eat. Too bad they don't have trays, I saw several people on walkers and canes struggling to manuever around with a plate. Also, on the first day at the Horizon Court, you will be asked several times to join the wine tasting, and that was annoying.
