bcnvcanada Posted August 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Please to ask, is there an easy way to transfer between american airlines terminal 5 to international flights. Must one exit the terminal, walk to the international terminal to board ones flights. The airlines that we are using do code share, so the cases will be check thru. We will have a very short period between flights. We looked on the lax site but could not find any information about this. We were able to do this in 2004, so just wondering. Thanks for any assitance.
Rickey 88 Posted August 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Yes, you do need to actually exit Terminal 5, go outside and then walk a short distance from Terminal 5 (American) to the Bradley International Terminal. If you wish, a bus travels around LAX at 10 minute intervals. While you didn't say which other airline you are connecting to, be aware that not all of them use Bradley. A map may be of help: http://www.airport-la.com/info/terminal_map.html

Thanks for any assitance. You can take a shuttle or walk. --> http://www.airport-la.com/info/terminal_map.html Sometimes, it's easier just to walk rather than wait for the shuttles. Oops, Rickey88 beat me to it.
DeniceRG Posted August 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2011 American is in Terminal 4, not 5. Terminal 4 is right next to Tom Bradley International Terminal, an easy walk less than 5 minutes once you hit the sidewalk. What airline are you transferring to? Some of the International Airlines are not in Bradley.
Baseball fan Posted August 12, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Denice RG is correct. American is in terminal 4. It is really easy....American is in Terminal 4 and it is right next door to the international terminal. You walk outside the AA terminal and turn to the left. The International terminal is to the left running perpendicular. LAX is a U shape....it goes terminals 1, 2 and 3 up one side, then international and then 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 down the other side. The international terminal is the end of the U. On a map it might be called Tom Bradley International Terminal or terminal B (I think). But yes check the LAX website to confirm that the carrier does use the international terminal.

bcnvcanada Posted August 12, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Thanks to all who relplied. We are flying in on american, then on to cathypacfic. Again, thanks.
kenish Posted August 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2011 I recommend walking. Your AA flight will arrive into T4. When you exit the terminal, turn left so you're walking clockwise around the terminal loop (opposite direction of car traffic). As others stated it's less than 5 minutes to TBIT and the shuttle bus will take much longer. All check-in areas (including CX) are on the upper level. Rickey 88 Posted August 13, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Thanks to all who relplied. We are flying in on american, then on to cathypacfic. Again, thanks. With this new information, your plight becomes really quite simple. American Airlines uses Terminal 4 NOT Terminal 5, as you originally quoted. Now, the good news, Cathay Pacific also uses Terminal 4, so you have no need to exit at all. Simply stay within the building and use the TV screens to locate your departure gate. Walk over there, sit down and relax!!

Cathay Pacific has a couple of arrivals into Terminal 4, but it departs from TBIT (Tom Bradley). As stated above, when you walk out of Term 4, turn to left (opposite direction of traffic flow) and TBIT will be the next terminal. Check in is on the top level, and there is a food court before you go through security if you want to get a bite to eat Denice
