Blue Lagoon without the dolphins

Can you go there on your own or is it only for excursions? Can you just go and use the beach? How do you get there from cruise port? How long is travel time?

You can book just a beach day there...it is about a half hour or so ride to the island...it is a nice place to relax and get away from some of the crowds...

They have a website that you can go on and check it out...we took one of our daughters there when she was young and she LOVED it, very calm lagoon and sheltered from the ocean, clear blue water and not too deep for the kids...and a nice place to get food and drinks right there.

You have to catch a cab to go to Paradise Island (I think) to catch the ferry. So its the additional time in the cab plus the 1/2 hr ferry ride. Another issue with the ferry is it runs every 2 hrs, so if you miss one, you have a 2 hr wait until the next. My group wanted to do the Beach day at Blue Lagoon in October but we don't dock until 10am. The ferry leaves at 10:30am so we would miss that one and the next one is 12:30pm. The last ferry leaves the island at 4pm so depending on what time you dock, it may not be worth all the trouble to get there. It suppose to be really nice. I do wish the ferry's ran more often :(

We booked a beach day only- thru Carnival-if it's warm when you go it would be a nice relaxing place-we, however, went during a cold front and while warm by winter standards was not an enjoyable day:( too cold and rain came in on the way back.

We didn't eat or drink there. If you add the food with the excursion it's an extra 10 bucks, and no burger grilled under the shade of an open arena is worth 10 bucks, and I have read the food is mediocre. We got there abut 1:30 and we left at 4 something. The best part (even though we were cold) was that on the way back we got a tour of the houses of the rich and famous.:)

When you book through Carnival do you have to walk to catch the ferry or leave from the ship by van?
