And if the balconies get closed?

I'm happy for the further restrictions on smoking. But from time to time I cruise with people who do unfortunately still smoke.

I've been on a cruise that had such high seas that not only were balconies locked, but outside decks were closed too. It only happens rarely, but it happens. I wonder where the smokers would be allowed to smoke - would they designate an additional indoor area for smoking? Seems like they would have to. Many passengers get irate over things totally outside the control of the cruise line, like bad weather. Add cig withdrawal to this & things would get ugly.

Only on the Dream cove balconies do they lock cabin doors, I think. On other ships, I've never had balcony doors locked. If I was on a cruise where they not only locked balconies but closed all areas outdoors because the weather was so bad, I'd be pacing the hallways chain smoking. Who cares about rules at that point? I'd probably be giving out cigarettes to non-smokers.

Lol, as sick as I was on the cruise that went through a tropical storm - I might have accepted a smoke. No way could I have felt worse than I did.

I didn't have a balcony but my parents did, and I remember the balconies were locked for about a day, during the worst of it. Even the MDR was closed, & no shows of course.

I thought there was still one bar open at the back of the ships that allowed smoking anyway??? am I wrong? I could have sworn I read that.

Or they could go stand in the smoking section of the casino....

The 'jazz' bar is available for smoking. On the Conquest class ships that would be the lounge almost directly across from the piano bar... same on the Splendor as is the case on the Destiny, Triumph, Victory. On the Spirit Class that club is located on the port side just forward the casino on the Promenade deck.

Smoking IS permitted in certain sections of the casino but ONLY if the guest is engaged in play, as I understand...

:)

we've been on ships going through some bad storms, but never bad enough to be told we couldn't use our balcony.

the lido pool areas are outside yet still enclosed, and on most ship you can still smoke there.

now to decide which stateroom smell is worse: stale smoke, or vomit?

I'm sure anybody would be "irate" if they had their rights continually infringed upon.

I just flipped through the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and I can't find "smoking" listed. What page is that on again?

(Easy! Easy! I'm just kidding with you! Every smoking thread needs a few jokes to keep the crazies happy! :D)
