Google voice/Skype voice

I know that you cannot use VIDEO SKYPE but what about making telephone calls using either Google voice or Skype voice.

 

I imagine it does not take that much band width and when you are sailing for 24 days it could be inexpensive way to say hi.

 

I am an elite member thus have 180 minutes of free internet per room (two people).

I used Yahoo Instant Messenger to chat with my family back home. Worked fine.

 

I did not even try using voice.

I used the phone call service on my gmail and it worked well on our TA last fall.

Used Line 2 on the Silhouette this month and service was spotty. Got a couple calls thru but just as many had connection/audio issues. The bandwidth on board is not that great. best reception was right in the iLounge - full bars! I recommend text messaging as your primary mode of communication.

skype worked fine for us in Alaska.... some stalling out at times, but overall great... video and audio
