Barcelona Restaurants

First off, be aware that dinner time in Barcelona starts at 9pm or 9:30pm.

You will definitely need to make a special reservation for such a large group and choose a restaurant that actually has enough space to accomodate 20.

Barcelona is literally filled with great restaurants, from the classic to the uber trendy. I wish you had written more about your tastes and what kind of dining experience you are looking for. However, here are a few that I believe to be among the best:

7 Portes - traditional

Alkimia - new Catalan cuisine- molecular gastronomy

Vinya Roel - enoteca

La Bombeta - tapas

Gresca - modern simplicity

Moo - trendy upscale in the Omm Hotel

SuiteTraveler, have you ever been here?

I am helping Pinkie try to find a place. Correct me if I am wrong Pinkie, do we need something that will run about 25-35 eu pp?

I know we need to find a place to accommadate the group and we need to dine about 6pm so we need a non-stop kitchen.

Most in the group will have made a long trip and I don't think anyone will make a 930 dining rez awake.

On our first trip to Barcelona we ate at Maitea. Their specialty are pinxtos - tapas on a toothpick. IMO, not the best in town, nor the worst, and IMO nothing special.

I think you all might be best off at 7 Portes - which takes reservations, is open starting at 1pm and has large rooms to accomodate a big group. I would suggest you consider sticking to Paella (which they are known for) and perhaps some warm starters and ordering for the whole table to share - so if you have a table of 10, then you only order 7 dishes or so for all to share. The portions are enormous. With wine, it easily makes a sumptuous dinner. Paella is typically 22 Euros, warm starters typically around 10 Euros...

SailinSam, I do think we need to consider a late lunch/early dinner. That way everyone can retire early since they would have been flying around the world. We also have 4 people that will be arriving 4 days prior to the rest.

I will be happy with your choice! Go for it! Feel free to post or start a thread in the Port section too.

Pinkie

Los Carracoles is old, I sat in the same chair as Henry Ford had used on my first trip there in 1956, large, and was still good when there a few years ago. Sorry I don't know the starting time.

Ordering the serving family style makes a lot of sense, especially as some are extra hungry and others want little after a long days travel.

Have a great trip.
