Princess Ships - docking in St Thomas?

Where do the Princess shis dock in St Thomas? Is it Crown Bay?

Yes - Princess has a contract to dock there so 99% of the time they do. However, so does HAL, RCI and QM2.... so if 2 other ships get in first or any mega ship is in port then Princess will go to Havensite.

...we were anchored and tendered right into the main part of town.

We were anchored in the middle of the bay on our first port of call ever in St. Thomas on the Disney Magic. Tendering was quick and efficient and most convenient to town.

Enjoying a late lunch on the open aft patio was magical. Watching all the water traffic as well as the sea planes was very enjoyable.

I'd welcome that again anytime...

The St Thomas cruise ship docking sked is only showing docking thru the end of October, 2011 so at this point it would be anyones guess. In January when we were on the Ruby we docked in Heavensight but that likely means nothing for a November docking.

We've been to St Thomas numerous times on RCL and always docked at Havensight and either done private tours or headed over to St. John's. We're curious as to whether Crown Bay has the "shopping mall" that Havensight does?

Also for this trip, after we do a little shopping at the pier, we'd like to head in town or elsewhere for a relaxing lunch. Any recommendations??

Thanks

In no way can you compare the shopping at Crown Bay with the shopping at Havensight.

I guess it does not really matter since the island is not all that big. Just trying to figure out our starting point!! :D We either want to take a taxi to Magens Bay Beach or to Sapphire Beach. We are only going to stay at the beach for a max of 2 hours. Then take a taxi to Charlotte Amalie area for shopping and lunch. We would also like to go to Mountain Top to see the views. We are in port from 7am to 4pm. Hope we can fit it all in!!

Putterdude...where do you find the docking schedule for St Thomas? I looked on cruisett dot com which just shows the number of ships in port.

Thanks!

In January, we were on the Ruby and docked at Havensight, while the Emerald was docked at Crown Bay. It will depend on the number of ships expected, what itinerary you're on and who gets there first, I think. The Ruby was on the Eastern Caribbean itinerary while the Emerald was on the Southern Caribbean itinerary. You can go to the virgin islands website www.********** to look at the cruise ship schedules to see who is at which dock on which island.
