Recom on tour operators for New England/Canada area?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow cruisers!

I'm looking into excursions and notice that the price on Princess is pretty high.

Does anyone have recommendations for tour operators for the ports that we will be sailing to? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Quebec City

Sydney

Bar Harbor

Halifax

Rhode Island

New York

Charleston, SC

Thanks!

Ann

In Halifax we have a group booked with Jonathan at yourcab.ca. There were alot of recommendations on CC for him.

In Sydney we have a group booked with Don Blackwood he's reached via email at donblackwood@seascape.ns.ca.

A good source of info is toms port guides dot com, he's got pics, maps and loads of info on a variety of ports. Good luck.

Wow, this would require a long answer. For my part, I will try to keep this short and sweet. For more info you can go to the top of the page and click on Search. The New England forum has a lot of info on the New England ports. What I am suggesting here is only the tip of the iceberg.

Quebec - https://www.toursvieuxquebec.com/en/page/city-and-country-tours

Sydney - Blackwood Tours, Don Blackwood, Phone: 902-862-3791, e-mail: donblackwood@seascape.ns.ca

Bar Harbor - http://www.acadiaislandtours.com/ or for a private tour www.atyourservicetaxi.com

Halifax - www.halifaxtaxitours.com

Newport? - http://www.nativenewportertours.com/

or do it on your own. Look at RIPTA bus schedule, bus #67 goes to the mansions. Do not buy tickets ahead on line, they are easy to buy at the mansions. This is a tender port and in bad weather the ship will not go here and the tickets are non-refundable.

New York - HOHO http://www.newyorksightseeing.com/

You will be docking in Brooklyn. Take a taxi to South Street Seaport (around $16 for the taxi w/tip) and buy tickets from the guy in the colored vest.

Charleston - http://www.charlestonmuseummile.org do it yourself walking tour - great map

Or go to a plantation - http://www.charlestoncvb.com/visitors/events_news/charleston-news/new_plantation_shuttle_to_start_september_1-922

Hi Ann,

Have you signed up with our roll call, you are going to be on our ship and we have a great group or it sounds like a great group. Some of us are getting together for tours. In fact cruisingnut is on our ship. We are doing the Halifax tour with her group.

It does seem some of the Princess prices are high, but that isn't unusual for cruise lines. We booked our NYC tour with Princess. It isn't all that expensive and I wanted to stick with our ship because NYC can be such a madhouse.

We have also thought about the wine tour in Quebec with Princess. If we could find one similar, not with Princess we would grab it, but so far we haven't seen any.
