apmecruise Posted September 14, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted September 14, 2011 I read through some reviews and saw some crabby people. One thing they did mention was how crowded the decks were. I hate that and will definately want to find a quieter place. I don't need silent, I just hate to be on top of each other. We sailed on the Epic and it was crowded but there were places to get some peace. Are chair hogs still crazy on these ships. I really battled with it myself. Do I go early and get a chair (become a hog) or wait till I actually get there and be frustrated? The dilemma. I can't wait to see Robbie the mermaid. Also how do you go about getting a tour of the bridge. I am really interested in how the ship runs. What are some must eat foods aboard the Gem? Rare Turtles06 Posted September 14, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2011 Who/where/what is Robbie the Mermaid? (We'll be on the Gem next month. All the suggestions are much appreciated! :))
camz Posted September 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2011 Food Favorites on the Gem: Pretzel Rolls, dessert crepes filled with different topings. Blue Lagoon has great wings, burgers, chicken fingers, fries and such. Cagneys has great steaks. Different Fun Places: The Spinnaker Lounge has a table shuffle board game which is fun and if the ship is rocking it can work in your favor. Bowling in the Bliss Lounge. The Bliss Lounge is a wild atmosphere with lots of flat screen tvs. Rock Climbing on the upper deck, weather permitting. Large Chess Set on deck. The Bridge Viewing Room should not be missed as it is truly amazing to see what makes these huge ships sail. The Liar's Club is a fun show to see. The White Hot Party is also a good time. Other than that, check you Freestyle Daily for more up-to-date information. The Gem is a beautiful ship. There are lots of tucked away little lounges and bars, many of which have live entertainment throughout the day.

lgfromdg Posted October 9, 2011 #14 Share Posted October 9, 2011 I loved playing Trivia and all the other game shows every day. I got a bridge tour as part of the Behind the Scenes tour I won at the Latitudes party. I think the passes for that were around $55 pp. Bridge tours aren't available to everyone. Some times they're extended to Roll Calls; sometimes to passengers in the higher-end suites.
suzequ Posted October 10, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 10, 2011 I've done the ship tour as part of being a platinum latitudes person. We toured the kitchens, the recycling facility, the laundry, the theater and the bridge. Amazing peak "behind the curtain". :)
