snow52408 Posted September 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2011 We're planning a cruise on the Elation in May 2012. I've narrowed it down to either Empress or Verandah deck. I was wondering if anyone has stayed on either of these and has any advice? On our last cruise we were on the lido deck and I loved being close to the action and everything, but I like empress bc its easy to get to other things from there..dining room, etc. Any advice is appreciated! scchasgal Posted September 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2011 If you or anyone in your party is prone to seasickeness stay away from Verandah deck. It it high and forward.

Sundiego Posted September 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2011 I know you're asking about Empress vs Verandah, but thought I'd throw this in anyway! We were UPPER deck AFT (across the back of the ship). NEVER AGAIN!! The vibration was horrible, as in "rattle your fillings" horrible. We've had aft balconies before on other ships and never felt anything like the vibration we had on the Elation aft ocean view.
FlaGrl4Evr Posted September 18, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2011 We booked the Inspiration, same class of ship, on the Upper deck just a few cabins away from the aft elevators. Rooms above and below and convenient to the stairs and elevator, plus we saved a little by moving down a deck. We actually had a cabin on the Empress but changed our mind as we wanted cabins above and below.

conchead Posted September 18, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2011 We have been on the Elation twice on the Verandah deck. Loved it both times and never noticed it getting any more motion than anywhere else. It was a pretty smooth both times. It is an excellent location for being close to things too. ftthomas Posted September 18, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2011 I Just got off the ship last week, and I really liked the Main deck M132 and M136 are dead midship and they were really convenient to everything in my opinion. I like Empress but it is right there in the lobby so you have the bar and all the desks and stuff. I would stay on six or lower.

I guess it's just "different strokes for different folks", but our aft cabin on the upper deck was our favorite cabin so far!
cathyz Posted September 18, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2011 We've been on multiple cruises on 3 different Fantasy class ships in exactly the same cabin each time, E75, it's very convenient to the atrium, has no one across the hall, and has the quiet library above. We are booked for the Jan. 23rd sailing out of NOLA on the Elation, and are on Main deck, midships (or at least as midship as we could get - those cabins book up so fast I couldn't believe it!!). Was it nice and quiet? ..Trin..
whendoweleave? Posted September 22, 2011 #15 Share Posted September 22, 2011 on the Elation and we loved the convenience. Just stay far enough down the hall and the noise is no issue. Easy debarkation, too. You can choose self-assist if you don't feel like packing the night before, because you can just roll your stuff out. Very nice...:)
