VAN2222 Posted September 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2011 I would also like to know what it means ... anyone?
Rare broberts Posted September 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2011 The number refers to the type of cabin. 4 - Inside, 6 - Ocean view, 8 - Balcony, 9 - Premium balcony. Within each cabin type the staterooms are divided into categories based on their "desireability". The letter is used to denote the category. Generally the later in the alphabet the letter the more desireable the cabin. Usually more desireable categories cost more. More desireable cabins are typically on middle decks close to the center of the ship. Although aft cabins are often considered quite desireable. Other things that affect desireability are things like obstructions and larger / smaller balconies.
Rare mizLORInj Posted September 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2011 It has to do with location after inside, oceanview, balcony, suite. What is perceived as a better location will cost more, though sometimes only a few dollars. There are sites that give you the deck plans and color code the categories so you can see all the, say, 8a cabins. My friend had an 8a balcony above the theater and it was noisy. 8b is in "better" location. I choose a location that is not above or below a theater, casino, club, or below an uncarpeted area (pool area on lido deck or under lido that has wood flooring) as you will hear noise.
