crusinpsychRN Posted September 21, 2011 #29 Share Posted September 21, 2011 Reminds me of my mother-in-law! We usually visit them in South Florida over the Christmas holidays and every year she says "Bring warm clothes --- lots of sweats and long pants/shirts". Every year we come down and it's beautiful and in the upper 70s, in the meantime it's in the low 20s here at home, last year we had the blizzard! 70 outside is chilly in Florida! misstopgun Posted September 21, 2011 #30 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I emailed them at: oceanplayersclub.comI told them my name, the ship I was going to be sailing on, the date, my cabin number etc. and asked if I or DH had earned anything for the upcoming trip. They emailed me back the next day stating my husband was would receive the Deluxe Bon Voyage package. I printed the email and took it with me, just in case. We got the Premium Bon voyage package last time using the same method to contact the players club and it was a fruit basket with a bottle of wine and 2 large waters and a photo coupon. I guess the deluxe comes with champagne. Our cruise this weekend comes with the premium package as well as casino cash.

Approx. how much time/money do you have to spend in the casino to earn this deluxe package? I’m not a member of the oceans club, yet, but plan on signing up on our next cruise! Slingo looks like tons of fun!! Hope it’s on the Magic!!!
futureAG Posted September 21, 2011 #33 Share Posted September 21, 2011 Fantastic review so far!!! Loving every second of it!! I was so torn between the Liberty & the Magic for our next cruise. Reading your review makes me wish I would have chosen the Liberty! We went with the Magic because we can drive to Galveston & because the Magic will be celebrating her 1 year anniversary just like my hubby and I! Seemed right. Keep up the awesome work!! SASA13 Posted September 22, 2011 Author #37 Share Posted September 22, 2011 ST. THOMAS We had the St. John Sail and Snorkel excursion ( purchased thru CCL) at 1:00 pm, therefore, we slept in that morning, had a leisurely breakfast, and hung out on Lido until it was time to go. It is heaven on Lido on port days, as most everyone gets off the ship early, and you get your pick of the lounge chairs, and the pools and saunas are practically empty. We made our way outside approx 12:45 and by 1:00 we were on the boat and sailing off to St. John. We made the mistake of sitting on the first deck ( which is inside) of the boat and it stunk like gasoline and was very hot. On the way back we made sure we got a seat on the outside upper deck. The scenery on the boat ride over is beautiful. DH went outside a few times to snap some pics. The entire boat ride was under 40 minutes. When we got to St. John, we were then taken by open air taxi to the beach. Along the way, the driver stopped at spots so we can take pics, and he gave us the history of the island. SASA13 Posted September 22, 2011 Author #38 Share Posted September 22, 2011 Once at the beach, we were given a lecture about how to use the snorkel equipment, where the bathrooms, showers, snack bar etc were, and we were told that the conditions for snorkel were not very good that day. I don’t remember the reason why, as I was more interested in trying snorkling. This was my first time snorkling, DH has done it before, but not me. We got our goggles, vests and fins and off we went. The beach must have suffered errosion, as the beach itself ( the sand ) was not very wide. As a matter of fact, there were many times when a wave came up and washed peoples towels, sandles etc into the water. I mastered the snorkle equipment, and off I went to the snorkel trail. I didn’t see much, as everything looked cloudy and it looked like the sand had been all churned up. I am assuming it was from the hurricane that went thru there the week before. But not to worry, I still had a blast. I had so much fun putting on the gear, and snorkling around. The water is beautiful, and the scenery is breathtaking. SASA13 Posted September 22, 2011 Author #39 Share Posted September 22, 2011 Unfortunatelly, our underwater camera dropped dead, and I lost all those pics, so I have none of the snorkel trail. When our time was over, we got back on the bus. Once again, the bus driver stopped for photo ops, and DH jumped out of the taxi to get some unobstructed pics . We got back on the boat and we were first in line to get a seat on the top deck of the boat. Once back on board the Liberty, we did the usual shower, nap, dinner, show and casino. Here is what was waiting for us at night.
SASA13 Posted September 22, 2011 Author #40 Share Posted September 22, 2011 SAN JUAN Once again we took our time getting up, had a nice breakfast, and we got off the ship about 11 AM. We walked around the town a bit doing a lot of browsing, but we didn’t purchase anything. We then made a stop at EL CASINO, which is in the Sheraton Hotel. It was a very nice casino with a lot of slot machines I had never seen before. They waitress comes around asking if you would like any drinks, and they are $1, $2 or $3. The casino itself is very clean and everything looked in great condition. We tried our luck for a few hours, and then went back to the ship. We made a stop at Fish & Chips for lunch. We both had the fish & chips & DH had the Octopus fritters. They were good.. The dough is mixed with zucchini and onions. DH also tried some type of cold calamari salad, and he said it was delicious. We got a table near the window so we could watch the sail off from San Juan.
SASA13 Posted September 22, 2011 Author #41 Share Posted September 22, 2011 Then it was back to the cabin to get changed into our bathing suits. We went to the aft pool, the one that is for adults only, and I must say, I only saw one child there and he was behaving. We got some sun by the pool, and fell asleep for about an hour. After showering and changing for dinner, guess what we did---you guessed, dinner, show and casino. One night I went to the comedy club. I went to the last show 11:45, and let me tell you, I was hysterical. The comedians are very good, and it is R or even X rated, which they announce a few times before the show begins, so that if anyone is easily offended, they can leave before it starts. Next up: Grand Turk. I will be back tomorrow :)
