The picture people on the ship must be peeved. They used to run Halloween for the three weeks prior to Halloween on the ships one night and many pics were taken by the photo dept.

Where did you see this so we know it is fact?

If you are not sailing on the 31st I would not bring the costumes. I was told early August that we were only having activities on the 31st. My main source is out of town right now but will get more details when he comes back.

I have been sharing everyone's feedback in regards to the sailings prior. The manager of that area is on vacation right now but I am sure I will get more details next week.

I will post as soon as I hear back if any changes.

This is sad news for us because our entire family had Halloween costumes ready to wear for our short cruise the week before Halloween. Based on the previous cruisers' experiences, they used to have Halloween parties/costumed events for a couple of weeks before Oct. 31st.

Oh well . . . we're still hoping for a good time.

B/c no one celebrates Halloween on a weekday, I guess unless your on vacations. Its always on the weekend even when the 31st isn't. That's why some people are a bit upset.

Hmm, no. Halloween is always celebrated on October 31st even when it's a week day! If not, then someone needs to tell all the trick-a-treaters who only go out on October 31st! LOL

I usually go to a Halloween party or a club the Saturday before Halloween. It is pretty common.

That's what I was thinking.

Even so, I did eat the bag of candy corn DH bought a month ago. They shouldn't sell candy corn so early. That stuff is evil. :D

Maybe I should book a cruise leaving on Jan1st and demand to have another New Year's Eve Party, LOL

Halloween is the 31st Day of October .. the only reason Bars have it on weekends is because people are too hung over to get up for work.

The only reason SOME towns do it on the weekends for kids is because of school .. why I have no clue because years ago it was ALWAYS on the 31st regardless of what day it fell on.

So you won't be attending your company Christmas party this year unless it's on Dec. 25th?

Well maybe so where you live. We in NOLA celebrate anything on any day of the week!! Another reason to live in the great city!! We know how to party and know how to get up and go to work, we may be late or hung over but we still manage to make it!!

Exactly!! I may have to try this one in January. Or book a cruise in December and ask can we have a New Years Eve Party, even though NYE is still two weeks away!!

Christmas is different than halloween. We have our Christmas party during normal working hours. We just schedule patients where they are last seen around noon. We have lunch, wine, and presents during normal working hours. If it was a party after that, I doubt I would attend. I have better things to do with my time then go to work when I am off to attend a party.

Another Carnival Cut Back, Halloween parties will only be held the night of Oct 31st :(
There has been a lot of comments about when and how long Carnival should celebrate Halloween. I don't get it. It's not Madi Gra. It's your vacation, if you want to dress in costume the day or acouple of days before Halloween I'm sure that will be fine. Just don't expect Carnival to sponcer a big deck party any day other than Oct. 31.

I have been in New Orleans during Halloween, as you clearly know there are Halloween Parties at bars and clubs on the weekend preceding the 31st. So it seems a little strange that someone who is from NO and even mentions how much their city likes to party, would wonder why people would celebrate the Holiday early.

Have you ever tried candy corn mixed with dry roasted peanuts????

It tastes just like a Payday candy bar.....I keep a glass pumpkin of the mix on my desk..........

We are booked over Halloween and I'm not wearing a costume, the shame ;)

I would say that if this is really as big an issue to some, people should take thier costumes and just wear them anyways. Someone on another (very similar) thread suggested bringing candy for thier kids if they were going to be that heartbroken over not trick-or-treating on the ship.
