Sheraton-Nassau Day Pass---has anyone been here?

I never thought about Bahamas having cold water. How is the water in the beginning part of February?

it depends on whether or not we have a cool winter or a cold front.

Keep tabs on the preceding weather..

Let me say, the first time I went to the bahamas was Mar 5th (more than 20 years ago).. it was 45 degrees in NY, and 47 when I arrive in nassau. Next day the sun was shining. Winter weather is iffy.. it's similar to southern florida.

If you want guaranteed warm water for swimming, you'll have to go further south.

Hey! My husband and I did the Day Passes at the Sheraton Hotel on our day in Nassau and we had the Best Time! It was only $1.25 per person (1 way) to ride bus #10 to the Sheraton! (Bring Exact Change!) When we got there bought us our passes $25 per person! We got our Beach Towels, headed to the Beautiful Beach and got us chairs! The ocean and beach area was so nice and clear!! We took a lot of pictures! They have 4 pools to swim in, which 1 is heated and has a swim up bar area (we took advantage of this)! We ate at the cafe there, expensive though and the bathrooms are nice and huge! Plenty of changing area! We wore our regular clothes there and changed into our swimsuits there and then changed back into regular clothes when we left. I Totally Recommend a day at the Sheraton Hotel! Very Nice!! :)

How is the snorkling there at the Sheraton beach?

this is novice snorkeling along a rock wall.. This is not a reef, but rocks put in place a few years back to attract sealfe. If you are looking for a snorkeling adventure, this is not it. If you are looking for a hour of fun while you're at the beach.. you'll enjoy

If you have little ones.. bring the correct size mask and snorkel from walmart..

Thanks for the snorkling info.

1. What time of day do they start selling the Day passes at the Sheraton?

2. What is the actual name of the Sheraton hotel (or address)?

The pools and beach opens at 9am. You can purchase passes at the front desk. The Hotel is the Sheraton Cable Beach.. currently part of www.cablebeachresorts.com It's located on West Bay Street.

Cash or credit card. I don't believe there are any discounts for day passes at any of the hotels.

Thanks for all this additional info.

:confused:A couple of questions

1.) About the credit card....will they tack on an extra charge if you use a credit card, since it is outside of the USA?

2.) Did you notice if there were other 'cheaper' eating places within walking distance of the hotel? Did they service guacamole dip at the hotel?

Glad to hear you had fun!

The Hotel won't tack on the extra charges, but your bank might. Most banks charge the international conversion fee. Capital one does not. Some AMex cards don't charge this fee as well. Check with the bank.

I have a Capital One card that I use only for international travel.

There are a few places within walking distance, but there is alot of construction in the roadways, so I wouldn't count on it.

I don't know of any place that serves quacamole dip in the bahamas except Senor frogs. This is the bahamas.. not mexico. Conch salad and conch fritters are the menu staples.

Thanks, Scubagirrl. Your info is so helpful! Family of 7 thinking of going to Sheraton (4 adults 3 children). Should I worry about passes not being available on the day we walk up to the Sheraton front desk and ask for day passes? We will be there July 5th, so I am worried about them turning us away.

I saw we can book a day room in advance, but we really don't need that and would prefer not to if its not necessary. Any thoughts?? Thanks!

It may be more crowded than usual due to the holiday, but I don't think you'll have trouble getting passes.

I realize this is an old thread...but am hoping someone is still around to answer a few questions.

We will be arriving in July, DH and myself (mid-40's), 5 year old, and Grandma. If I'm reading this thread correctly, we have the option of either purchasing 4 day passes ($30 each?) or calling to see if they have a day room available. Is that correct?

Are there still slides and so forth for a 5 year old?

Does anyone know definitively if there's shade available at the beach?

Thanks!

Hi! I cannot answer all of your questions, and I have not been there.. But, I just recently purchased the Resort for a day pass for the Sheraton! You can always just walk up to the desk and purchase the pass. I believe it is 30pp... Not 100% sure on that! We did the resort for a day pass because it includes a lunch/drink credit and we wont have to hassle with the unforseen. Such as, them running out of passes in the middle of summer! I am sailing in July so I assumed it would be busy! From the pictures of the Sheraton ( I have seen pics and videos on youtube) It looks beautiful. They have some water activities like kayaking, snorkeling. They also have several pools and a swim up bar. Hope this helps a little and I am sure someone such as Scubagirl will chime in! :D

My group and I visted this resort 06/06. Day pass is $30pp and purchased onsite. We took a taxi (due to parade) and the cost was $4pp one way. $30 included: towels, kayaking, paddleboards/boats, water trikes, volleyball pit. Snorkeling-$25 deposit to use equipment. There were umbrellas with shaded beach chairs!!! Drinks were expensive but GOOD, Food- so-so.. Vendors-only bothered by two. Property was amazing! :)

If you would like a dayroom you have to book that ahead of time so they know you are coming. The day room rate is $99.00 and is for two adults and each additional person is $10.00 each. There is no tax on this rate and the room is from 7am-7-pm which gives you time to relax in airconditioned comfort or Grandma to rest for a bit if needed or take a shower before returning to the ship. Her eis the e-mail I got from booking our day room:

Thank you for your e-mail.

The day pass is $99.00 for a room of 2 persons and each additional person is $10.00 with a maximum of 4 persons to a room. Otherwise (without room) $30 per person and children (4-12 years) $15 per child. These prices are for the use of the facilities and the passes can be purchased at our Front Desk upon arrival. The day room pass can be purchased in advance. Both passes includes kayaking, snorkel gear, water trampoline, floatation mats, aqua cycle and paddle boats. Please note resort fees and taxes are not applicable to these passes. The cruise port is about 20 minutes from the hotel by taxi and the charge is around $21 for 2 passengers and each additional $3 or by bus #10 at $1.25 per person.

I will forward you the electronic credit card authorization to process so that I can confirm the room accordingly.

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino and we look forward to your visit with us.
