Travel insurance?

My husband and I are taking our first cruise in November, 9 nights - RCI Rhapsody of the Seas from Sydney to South Pacific Islands. We made a disastrous mistake not getting travel insurance on our honeymoon and don't want to make the same mistake again.

What kind of cover do we need, how much should we pay and what (Aussie?) company should we go with?

There are big differences around the world in the rights & responsibilities of cruisers, cruiselines & insurers, depending mainly on which country the cruiser books from. The differences were highlighted by the effects of the Icelandic ash-cloud.

Advice on this forum from US cruisers will be appropriate for them, advice from UK cruisers will be very different - but still not appropriate for Aus cruisers.

As Keith's post, you need advice from Aussies.

You also need to check RCI's requirements, without appropriate insurance you may be denied boarding.
