mandy_sparkle Posted October 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2011 My husband and I are taking our first cruise in November, 9 nights - RCI Rhapsody of the Seas from Sydney to South Pacific Islands. We made a disastrous mistake not getting travel insurance on our honeymoon and don't want to make the same mistake again. What kind of cover do we need, how much should we pay and what (Aussie?) company should we go with?
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2011 You may want to post this on the Australia and New Zealand Cruisers Cruise Critic Board to see what some of your fellow Aussies do. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=712 Keith
John Bull Posted October 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2011 There are big differences around the world in the rights & responsibilities of cruisers, cruiselines & insurers, depending mainly on which country the cruiser books from. The differences were highlighted by the effects of the Icelandic ash-cloud. Advice on this forum from US cruisers will be appropriate for them, advice from UK cruisers will be very different - but still not appropriate for Aus cruisers. As Keith's post, you need advice from Aussies. You also need to check RCI's requirements, without appropriate insurance you may be denied boarding. perkydebrajean Posted October 4, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 4, 2011 I bought my insurance through the cruiseline. I'm cruising next June but my mom's health has been bad over the past year and so I purchased it just in case. Enjoy your cruise!
