When we did the Seine with Uniworld, the trip to the beaches in Normandy was a huge draw for us. We realized that most stops would be focused on the American experience (made sense, with Uniworld being an American-owned company...) but we were hoping to see a bit of Juno Beach while we were there.

We were *very* excited when we were offered the opportunity to do a "side excursion" that day. Our CD arranged for 6 of us to get off the bus at Juno Beach so that we could walk on the beach, and visit the Museum there. He arranged for a van/taxi to pick us up - and we went to the Canadian Cemetery at Benys-sur-Mer. Very moving... We joined back up with the group as they were leaving Arromanche - so we still did see the American Cemetery, and Point-du-Hoc. Chris (the CD) stayed with us the entire time. The "added" excursion only cost 26 euros each - and that included the admission into the Juno Beach Centre, and the taxi ride. He just tallied the cost - and split it up.

We were very impressed with this whole scenario.... Uniworld scored big points with us that day.

Avalon did a similar trip for those from Australia and the UK who were on our cruise. They were pleased that our CD took their history into account. I believe that there were 30 or more on that particular trip.
