oavcech95 Posted October 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2011 I'm considering in taking a cruise for New Years in the caribbean and after researching I have this *Celebrity Eclipse 31 D.- 07 Jan From Miami -San Juan -St Marteen, Netherlands -Bassetterre, St. Kitts and Nevis 3 nights at Sea( through the cruise) Total for a balcony room: 3980 USD *Carnival Miracle 28 Dec- 05 Jan From FLL Grand Turk Island Catalina Island Aruba Willemstad, Curacao 3 nights at Sea (through the cruise) Total for a balcony room 3687 USD MSC Poesia 30 D- 06 Jan From FLL Key West Cozumel Routan, Honduras Montego Bay, Jamaica 2 nights at Sea (through the cruise) Total for a balcony room 2990 USD I have been on the Celebrity Infinity 3 years ago great cruise but it was too long (2 weeks) I have been also on the MSC Orchestra and liked it a lot So which cruise should I choose If it was for Itinerary I would choose Carnival If it was for price I would choose MSC If it was for service and the whole ship I might choose Celebrity Thanks,
oavcech95 Posted October 9, 2011 Author #2 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Well I just checked again and actually the Carnival is 3900 USD
kitty9 Posted October 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2011 If cost is a concern, MSC is the obvious choice. If keeping the kids happy and occupied, then Carnival is the choice. Celebrity is a great line, but more geared to adults as it doesn't have nearly the activities that kids and teens really like.
oavcech95 Posted October 9, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Money isn't really an issue. Of course keeping my kids not being bored is important but I just feel that the Carnival isn't the same category as the Celebrity and the price is the same. VikkiGarcia Posted October 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Out of the choices listed Carnival has the best teen program. On MSC the teen program is too much like babysitting. My kids liked their teen program the least of any of the 20 cruises they have been on.
oavcech95 Posted October 9, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Both of my kids aren't really the club type. They prefer to hang out, to do things they can't do at home, not playing PS3 or Wii.
kitty9 Posted October 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Both of my kids aren't really the club type. They prefer to hang out, to do things they can't do at home, not playing PS3 or Wii. By activities, I didn't mean playing video games. It's just that other activities that kids and teens seem to be attracted to, such as sports and the like, are not available on Celebrity. No running track, no real sports deck other than basketball, no fancy pools with all the bells and whistles, no rock climbing walls and things like that. Since most teens don't really take to the club business regardless of cruise line, they do tend to look towards the other things that Celebrity doesn't have. onthelake Posted October 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2011 I would vote Celebrity. There will be plenty of other young people that week of the year and I like the itinerary. The MSC itinerary does not appeal to me at all - too much 'been there done that.'
oavcech95 Posted October 10, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Are PR, St Marteen and Bassetterre nice places?
oavcech95 Posted October 10, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted October 10, 2011 So in conclusion, will my kids get bored in this 7 night week cruise?
VikkiGarcia Posted October 10, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 10, 2011 My kids much prefer hanging out with other teens after dinner than Mom and Dad. That is why I like a good teen program so they aren't roaming the ship with their new friends.
