airlink diva Posted October 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2011 Anybody have any recommendations for a famuly with teens? Considering the Jungle Safari Adventure through Shoretrips. Any other suggestions or recommendations????? I booked this tour with shoretrips due to the lack of any good ship tours. I still consider this the best tour of all my cruises. The guide was great! I was the only cruise guest that day. There was a grandmother and her grandkids from France with me. The family spoke no English, but we managed. The guide spoke both and I never felt like an odd man. We first headed out of town to the sugarcane fields. We got to cut sugercane and enjoy it. We came across a termite hill and tried that too! Both the grandmother and I bonded over trying this! We next headed to two beaches that you have to be a local to know about. We drove pass small towns. The highlight was lunch at the local home. The woman home is on a hill overlooking the ocean. We ate on the patio. The food was excellent! The woman sells coffee from beans in her garden and local rum. BUY MORE THAN 1 BOTTLE OF RUM! I hate I only got one :(! It was the best from all the islands! We next went to a local waterfall. This was also a place where locals hang at to picnic

airlink diva Posted October 24, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2011 Ok Boatingmom, here's my photos. Now I did this tour in 2008, but I still like to share them with you. If I ever get a chance to visit Guadeloupe again, I would do this tour in a heartbeat. This first picture is the view from a sugarcane field. I will always recall that it was on a warm Sunday morning around 11 a.m. This is a picture of my guide for the day. He was excellent! Having one person with limited French and others with no English and giving us a great tour! He's showing us the sugarcane The fishing pier from one of the towns along the ocean We went to two beaches. The first one we drove across a cow pasture to get to. The second one was also another out of the way beach. You had to be a local to know about them. There were about ten people total and both beaches. These pictures are from the second beach. One of the grandkids walking the beach
airlink diva Posted October 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2011 One of the highlights was having lunch at a local home. When we arrived, greeted with such warmth. We all had a drink of either fruit punch or passion fruit rum. Both was so good! The breathtaking view of her outside patio. A great view of the ocean and her garden After lunch, we headed to the waterfall You had to climb down in order to reach it. Just take your time! But it was worth it! My guide said it was popular with families on the weekend. You had alot of people with picnic baskets and grills. I just found me a spot to enjoy the water and enjoy myself After this, I was returned back to the port. Now you don't have a shopping stop, the tour really gives a nice highlight of Guadeloupe. Everything was in Euros however, but at lunch, she did take dollars. I loved that the island wasn't touristy and likey this is what many of the islands were like before ships. I hope this helps! Any questions? It's been awhile, but I can jog my mind!
