ape1020 Posted October 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2011 I'm departing on Sunday on the Carnival Destiny out of Miami. My boarding pass says boarding time is 12-230pm with a departure time of 4p. I thought I read on the forums that you can board possibly as early as 1030am? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks! Haganwood Posted October 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2011 Usually it's between 11:00 and 11:30. Could be a little earlier or a little later than that.

golfb4cruzing Posted October 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2011 The earlier to port, the earlier zone assigned after the speciality groups board. Moves quickly. Get down there by 10AM.
scgamecock Posted October 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2011 Boarding was really quick in Miami a few weeks ago. I will definitely be in line by 10:00 & be one of the first on the ship next time.
klmorg Posted October 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2011 They typically let people start boarding once the last cruise has been cleared. Many people get to the ship by 11am, and checked in & on board shortly after that.
elcuchio24 Posted October 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2011 We took two cruises out of POM last month. Both times we arrived at port around 10:45am got zones 6 and 7, and were eating lunch on the lido by 11:15-11:30. Rooms are not ready until 1-1:30. gogetter Posted October 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2011 I have always wondered about this. If the boarding times state 12-12:30 why would you go earleir? If you can't get to your stateroom until 1:30, whats the point? There have been too many threads and back and forth talk of the rights or wrongs of trying to sneak to your cabin. If dinner is at 6pm, do you go earlier and try and get served?

It isn't crowded if you embark early. 2. You can get on the ship, eat lunch (for free) and explore the ship before it fills with people. Why WOULDN'T you get on early? Last cruise we had our swimsuits underneith our clothes, got some beers and hit the pool while most people were waiting in a long line to get though security. Seems like a no brainer to me. And no, we don't 'sneak' to our cabin before it's ready.

It is well known that the ship is ready, normally around 11:00, and that people can begin boarding. If Carnival didn't want people on the ship at that time then they would simply make them wait. But they don't, so I go early.

I personally don't feel like schlepping it around for two hours while waiting for my room to be ready.
