ZoneHPH Posted April 9, 2004 #26 Share Posted April 9, 2004 TELL ME ABOUT THAT OVERPACKING! we're limited to 50lbs for our check in luggage. (i am just not sure how many luggage we are allowed to check in...i think it's 2 pcs each weighing no more than 50lbs.) anyway...make sure you don't overpack, or you will find yourself dumping stuff at the airport. luckily for me i had a backpack in my roller and was able to remove 7.5lbs of stuff. you don't want to get hit with that overweight charge. good thing they didn't make ME stand on the scale. davy jones Posted April 9, 2004 Author #27 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Thanks to all for the comments. Zone, I have seen several posts in praise of the ribs. If they're that good, I may never get to the restaurant. Then all I will need is bathing suits and shorts, so packing will be light.
intrepid_guy Posted April 9, 2004 #28 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Zone- We flew Delta and their rule was 2 bags per person, no more than 50 lbs each. I think that is common practice for most airlines. Of course I didnt know that until we were there, because it wasnt on my ticket. It was on the jacket that held my boarding pass (which I got AFTER they charged me). Perhaps it is common knowledge to some, but we were unaware and thought that 2 bags for 2 people was better than 4 bags. Less for the airline and cruiseline to deal with. Next time, too bad they are getting four! When we left Baltimore (with the same bags), there was no charge, we checked in at curbside. In SJU there is no curbside avail, so they will weigh em there. We had no idea that the two bags weighed 72 and 96 pounds!!! And neither will you till it is too late. Intrepid <---- always packs light! HA! <b<SS NORWAY! smeyer418 Posted April 9, 2004 #29 Share Posted April 9, 2004 70 lbs is the limit on some other airlines-southwest for one (no one likes bags heavier than this) If you have a scale at home there is an easy way to check...weigh your self and then pick up the bag and look again... The reason this was changed was too fold 1. the baggage handlers complained(and occassional got hurt with the larger bags) 2. they can make more money..
