KrystalWaters Posted October 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2011 the NCL Breakaway? I mean for this being their newest ship, NCL sure is not really advertising what is suppose to be so 'new'. I've searched on their website and all the information is about the staterooms. This couldn't possibly be it?! I wanna be excited about going to Bermuda. Make me want to book NCL Breakaway, not make me more confused. So my question is, 'what's all the excitement about with the NCL Breakaway?'
Rare kjquilts Posted October 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2011 We've booked Breakaway for week of June 9, 2013 with the expectation that we'll have a great time on a new ship going from a new to us port to a new to us destination on a cruise line we love. We have our favorite stern location with staterooms above and below us. For now that's all I need to know. It's like Christmas - the anticipation of what might be in the package really adds to my enjoyment. I'm hoping that we'll find Howl at the Moon, the Noodle Bar and the bowling lanes on Breakaway. I'm hoping there will be a better promenade deck than Epic. I'm betting we'll love Breakaway :)
Rare shof515 Posted October 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2011 Breakaway is still in construction/building phrase. A bit hard to get people very excited for a new ship this year. I think next year, with a year away from launch is when NCL marketing team will crazy and start advertising/promoting this ship
camz Posted October 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2011 Actually, the NCL Marketing Team is being very strategic. They are providing enough information to keep us interested. without unveiling too much information. There will bits and pieces of information forthcoming leading up to the Maiden Voyage. Just a little too early at this time. Stay tuned...........
Rare Laszlo Posted October 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2011 I'm still wondering how Kings Wharf will handle the additional 2000 passengers. Its not like the NCL ship will be the only one in port. When we went in June and the Gem and Summit docked 30 min apart is was like a ball game had just let out.......Their were not enough taxies, let alone buses to support the masses. Just my observation of getting off the ship at 8:30am. We had a guide so we did not have to worry

KrystalWaters Posted October 22, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Thanks all. I really want to book a trip to Bermuda. I saw a comment about the Breakaway and so i went to investigate. There wasn't really any info on the website except what the rooms look like, nothing about the ship. I was always told to stay away from NCL, but I'm willing to give them a shot. Which ship would you recommend for my first time on a NCL? My hubby and I are in our early 30s and no kids:o.

luddite Posted October 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Here is what's so special about it: It is brand new. It is a giant behemoth. It has a REALLY KLUDGY name. It cannot go to a lot of ports because it is a giant behemoth. End of list.
jmcdon7230 Posted October 22, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2011 What NCL announced immediately and what's special about the Breakaway is that it appears to be very similar to the Epic minus the most controversial part.....the bathroom arrangement of the balcony cabins. Let's hope they also figured out that some people didn't care for the casino spilling out into public areas.

If you/hubby are active, I'd also suggest checking out RCL - for young/active folks you cannot beat having the rock wall, rollerblading, flowrider, ice skating. terracool Posted October 22, 2011 #13 Share Posted October 22, 2011 It's big. It's new. It's a ship. It's a big new ship. That's pretty much the buzz at this point. .
KrystalWaters Posted October 22, 2011 Author #14 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Okay...well on NCL website they announce, "tickets are now available.." so i thought they were a little further along then they were. It wasn't until i noticed it's not even launching until 2013 that i was deflated. I'm just familiar with the Carnival product and if something was coming out in 2013 they would have had some drawings or CAD layouts or what you could expect in the ship; maybe not pictures yet but their plans. Although I have only been on few cruises i'm not 'loyal'. I'm a 'equal opportunity' kinda gal.:p
rsinj Posted October 22, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Although I have only been on few cruises i'm not 'loyal'. I'm a 'equal opportunity' kinda gal.:p We've been the same - spreading ourselves among the cruiselines. However, we've decided on NCL for our cruises going forward because we've found what we like and have no reason to continue experimenting. We experienced the Courtyard/Haven on our cruise last month, and it is the best value for the money (for us) among the cruiselines. We won't sail with Carnival any longer. We love the wraparound aft balcony suite, however, we're not real enthusiastic about the level of service we get on Carnival for being in a suite. But, for the suite, it's a cheap cruise in comparison to the others. We went the second time specifically for the cheap suite, well aware that service would be mediocre - and our expectations were met. Disney and RCL were both great on all levels, however, for the price of the balcony on either of them, we can get into The Haven - which we'll take any day of the week if the prices are comparable. Allure Of The Seas is looking real interesting. So many ships so little $$:D:p I can only afford to go 1 time a year maybe sneak in 2 if i'm lucky lol.
