Royal Caribbean excursion to the Baths

Our friends took the tour in December and found it to be very crowded. That detracted somewhat from the experience since it required long waits getting through parts of the baths and lessened visibility. The beach at the end was extremely crowded. Only one ship was in port.

We did the Baths on our own a few years ago but our time in port and the ferry schedule worked well. It is unfortunate that ships often make such short stops in Tortola and the ferry schedule makes the ship's tour, with its crowds, mandatory.

Yes, the Baths are one of the 2 main BVI destinations for cruisers. Folks who stay in the BVI -either land-based or bareboating - will go to the Baths very early in the morning or after 3 PM to avoid the crowd. It is beautiful from the boat when it's quiet.

Hmmm, this is really something to consider as there will only be one other ship in port with us too :(

Maybe our original plan to sail to Norman Island would be better and thanks for the feedback!

The Baths are probably the number one cruise ship excursion and everyone else avoids them at peak times when ships in. Having said that if you take your own taxi you can avoid some of the herd experience. You can also stop at the Mineshaft for a bite and the exceptional views.

For snorkeling Norman and the Indians are the clear choice.
