Let them do their own research and book their own excursions.

I agree......

 

The more you do for them, the more open to 'the blame' you put yourself. While your intentions are the best, some things will be out of your control and everyone will look to point at someone if things don't go exactly as they want.

 

I *assume* it is your vacation as well. How much fun will you have it you have to play tour operator and TA?

There's plenty of shopping in Old San Juan. The Marshall's store is legendary for incredible deals on almost everything. There are also designer outlet stores (everybody loves the Coach outlet in San Juan)on Calle Cristo not too far from the Marshall's.

 

There's no beach in San Juan. Most people go to Condado, which you can get to by taxi.

 

Don't know about any scuba diving close enough to San Juan for them to get to in time for a good dive. They'll have to do that in another port, I think.
