Newbie has restaurant questions

First off, this board is great and i have learned alot by reading everyone's questions. So here's mine. We just finished looking at the "free" menus and there are days where we would like to opt out and dine at one of the cover charge restaurants. My question is this:

Will we know, when we board, which menu will be served on what day? This will certainly help plan which days we want to go to a different restaurant as I heard you should book those asap and not wait until the nite you want to dine there.

If you are in a suite your Butler can bring you the menus for the main dining room for the week, and the Concierge can make your reservations.

If you are in a regular cabin you can go down to the desk in the atrium and check out the menus for the week. I believe in a regular cabin you can only make reservations 24 hours in advance. I've walked up to the specialty restaurants many nights without a reservation and been able to get in. I often don't make up my mind until the last minute as to what I'm in the mood for.

Cooks - A couple things to keep in mind...

Follow these boards a few weeks before your cruise and ask someone on your ship to post the mdr menus for their week. The lobster night is unlikely to change; they other nights might be different.

So, as stated above go to the atrium reservation desk on arrival to see the mdr menus OR your butler can bring them if you're in a suite.

The specialty restaurants have the same menu every night.

Lastly, it is absolutely possible to wait until the last minute to go to one of the specialty restaurants (except teppanyaki). There are times especially later in the cruise when there might be a wait if you go at a popular time OR if your ship is full up, it can occasionally mean adjusting the time you want slightly.

I hope you have a great cruise! :)

There are TV screens around the ship which show the reservartion state of all of the restaurants. As has already been stated, the Teppanyaki fills almost immediately but most of the others are usually available for 'walk-up' (except perhaps for the last night).

Definitely try Le Bistro (and Cagneys if you are a confirmed carnivore!).
