Deb in Markham Posted October 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2011 I've seen folks mention taking out the drinnks that are in the fridge in the cabin to make room for their own. Are you charged for the drinks they put in the fridge? Thanks!
chrysalis Posted October 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2011 Charged only if you drink them:)
Layla Posted October 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2011 If you're not going to drink them, you can ask your room steward to remove them; that way you don't have to take up valuable storage area for them.
Deb in Markham Posted October 25, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted October 25, 2011 So basically it's just like a hotel fridge--stocked but you pay for each item you use? Thanks!

99Cruiser Posted October 25, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2011 Be careful if you have your cabin steward remove them. On my last cruise I had him remove them on the first day and I unfortunately didn't review my bill before leaving the ship and they charged me for them. It was only around $10 but it's the principal. paul929207 Posted October 25, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2011 Looking at them is free, drinking them will come with a charge. If you don't plan to drink them, you may want to have them removed. That will give room for water or other beverages you buy elsewhere.
Jasperdo Posted October 25, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2011 This is what was in our fridge on the Golden. If you used any of it, you were charged. We just asked the room steward to remove them, and put our things in it. Golden Princess by Jasperdo, on Flickr
77Network Posted October 25, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2011 Advice: Your fridge will be much colder if you don't close the door on the cabinet it is sitting in. A fridge takes the heat from inside it and moves it outside. When the cabinet is closed this heat has nowhere to go and ends up going back inside the fridge. Leave the cabinet door open and you will have much colder beverages.
Barry H Posted October 25, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2011 I would suggest having your cabin steward remove the drinks. Other option is to take them out and leave them on the counter above the fridge AND let your cabin steward know. Sometimes the cabin steward will check the fridge contents each day, replace anything that is missing from the standard stock and charge it to your cabin. Sometimes the cabin steward will check the fridge contents each day, replace anything that is missing from the standard stock and charge it to your cabin. If the cans are in our fridge, we just remove them and put in a corner somewhere (where the steward can see them). That way if we see it on our bill, we can prove that they were never opened and consumed.

only1deejay Posted October 25, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 25, 2011 I work at a very large casino in las vegas.... I always tell my friends dont use minibars and or roomservice. with the minibars....you really have no recourse when you state to the front desk...I never used, touched, drank the items in the fridge. yeah right....and you never know if housekeeping and/or security is sneaking stuff outta your minibar, sadly it does happen. I tell my friends to let the front desk know when you check in...to physically remove, lock or securely tape shut the minibar...and you can also request that your "room deposit" be flagged as no room service option. too many times people in the room have charged items to the guests account and they are "on the hook" for the items. CYA.
