mostofus Posted October 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2011 I was just looking at maps of the Liberty, and I am discovering that our room is right above the casino! We are not late night people, we would probably be in bed wanting to sleep by midnight each night, will the noise from below bother us?
Froufie Posted October 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2011 What part of the casino? I think if you are over the gaming area it shouldn't be too bad - but I have heard if you are over the 'stage' area where there is sometimes a band/musician playing the cabin may be noisy! If you are in a portside cabin (even cabin number), then you should be okay. Not knowing the difference with port and starboard sides, I was in a starboard balcony on deck 6 on the Glory. Had loud music from the promenade bar outside the casino every night until 1-2am. Was not happy. I only book portside now. Good luck Juile

maggie cruises Posted October 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2011 I would be more concerned about the smoke seeping thru than the noise. From what I can tell the Casino is the largest indoor venue on the ship where smoking is allowed..and the casino is large enough to not only hold all the players that are smoking...but even lots of non players that are looking for an indoor venue where they can smoke.. Personally, I would switch cabins
nwcruiselover Posted October 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2011 Personally I would switch also. I was above the casino bandstand once and it kept me awake till 2:00 AM. Since then I have always booked cabins that have only cabins above and below them. The concern about the smoke is valid also. I would switch even if it costs more money to do so. frito58 Posted October 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2011 Personally I never book deck 6 too much action below you why chance it , when deck 7 may cost you just a few bucks more but sandwiched between rooms .
nybumpkin Posted October 27, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 27, 2011 After two deck 6 experiences, we don't book deck 6 cabins. We were over the casino on the port side on Valor and while the noise from the casino wasn't awful (we heard the announcer and the bells if someone made a hit), it's not something we'd care to repeat. On Liberty, we were near the forward stairs and heard everything from the show lounge.

mostofus Posted October 27, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted October 27, 2011 Just put a call into my PVP, told her my concerns, I should hear back from her soon. We are above the casino itself, but I don't see any place for a band so maybe we will be OK. Also, we are a long way from stairs, so we shouldn't hear noise from the promenade. My biggest concern is we had booked adjoining rooms to be with our kids. No way will that happen now so close to sailing even if we did change rooms. Ugh! Why didn't I think of this sooner? Why didn't I think of this sooner? dont feel so bad we are apparently under the Galley which was not our 1st choice but we changed rooms a few times and this is what they had left so where we are some of the cruisers told me it was fine not to worry then some said to change..Well unfortunately the ship is almost sold out so we didnt have any other choices, trust me now we are re-thinking we should have done the adjoining rooms and kept the rooms we had originally booked...oh well nothing we can do now...I hope you guys can change if not I hope it wont be too bad...:) see you on the cruise :)
JFletcher32 Posted October 27, 2011 #12 Share Posted October 27, 2011 We booked a cabin right above the casino a few cruises back and yes, the dinging noises from the slot machines were very apparent, but never bothered us to the point of not being able to stand it. klmorg Posted October 27, 2011 #13 Share Posted October 27, 2011 OP, if you can't get the rooms switched to your liking (adjoining rooms), just take some of those cushy earplugs. You'll probably be fine regardless!
flounder315 Posted October 27, 2011 #14 Share Posted October 27, 2011 the music starts at 2 in the afternoon on the stage by the casino on the triumph. boom, boom, boom the stage is on the starboard side, so I booked a port side balcony for Dec 1st

cmorie Posted October 27, 2011 #16 Share Posted October 27, 2011 We were above the casino on the Destiny. You could hear the thumping and the band during the day so it kinda disturbed the mid-day naps (for me not the BF) but didn't spoil the cruise. At night we had no issues cause we were out late. It was the people in the adjoining cabin (that we didn't know) that made the most noise. If you're not going to sleep early I don't think it'll be a huge problem. I'd book over the casino again if I didn't like the other choices. Never an adjoining room again (whether I know them or not).
cruise_girl2002 Posted October 27, 2011 #17 Share Posted October 27, 2011 we had a room on the victory right above the casino. never heard a thing and im not a late night person. usually in bed about 10pm
mostofus Posted October 27, 2011 Author #18 Share Posted October 27, 2011 Thank you to all who took the time to reply. I spoke to our PVP and she told me that there would definitely not be any issues with smelling smoke (my biggest worry) and that she was very sure that we wouldn't be bothered by noise either. She told me that noise is a problem on another ship, but that she has never heard of any issues on the Liberty. Our only other option was to put all 4 of us in the same room and that would cost us more right now than we are paying for our two adjoining rooms. Just looking forward to cruising! And yes, I always pack the squishy earplugs!

Why didn't I think of this sooner? the band- sets up on the promanade across from the promanade bar. which is right where your cabin is located. you can go up one deck on empress and sorry to your agent-- that happens on all the ships in that class it is not just one ship with the noise the band set up and does not start playing until after 9pm and goes on til the wee hours of the morning. A cabin with even number cabin will not have issues with that band. but some cabins (even number cabins) will get noise issues from the lounge below them

To the OP you can check out cruisedeckplans.com and use the 'drag it' feature to see exactly what is under your cabin (according to my attempt looks like you are over the exact middle of the casino - so not sure how far away the 'music' or noise of the slots may be?). http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/Main/dragit2.php?ship=Carnival Liberty I agree that you might want to pack some earplugs - just in case! :D

Anyway, the cost we got at ES for two adjoining rooms is less than we would pay now to have a room with the 4 of us crammed into it. So the decision is......earplugs!
