Diamond Princess - any ballroom dancing onboard?

Please can anyone tell me if ballroom dancing is available in the evenings? Any dance lessons in the day? Is there a dance floor? :)

You might find some ballroom type dance music in the Wheelhouse Bar or Explorers Lounge. Unless you have your own partner don't expect to find one on the ship. :( On sea days they usually have a lame attempt at some sort of dance class. 87 women to 6 men, ()dancefloor horribly crowded, super basic lessons in merangue, waltz maybe cha-cha. If you have any type of dance experience you will find these classes boring.

If you are really into ballroom dancing you might want to check out Dancers at Sea. They are fantastic!! I traveled with them on a New Year's Cruise on the Crown and had a blast. :D

It varies a little by ship. Look for Explorer's lounge in the early evening for true ballroom dancing (dance type announced before each song) and also for the same occasionally in the Vista lounge (deck 7 aft). Sea days and sometimes days with early departures from port will likely have the dance lessons in Vista (Fusion on other ships) Lounge. As experienced dancers we like to keep apart from the general melee and work on both what they are teaching combined with what've learned recently from our dance lessons in our home city, which keeps it interesting. Usually the dance lessons onboard will be accompanied that evening by a planned opportunity to dance with a band so that the steps will "stick". A typical onboard lesson for cha cha will be basic step, 5th position breaks, Cross body breaks, and ladies inside turn. Expect them to use International terms for the moves.

We've had one 10 day cruise in recent years where there were professional dance teachers aboard.

Wheelhouse Bar always has live music with a small dance floor. Great for dancing, but not a lot of room for flair.

Dancing is a highlight of every cruise for us. :D

Thanks! We are not into flair, we are just keen - something we look forward to on cruises. Most dance floors are pathetic, small, odd shaped etc. But it doesn't matter as long as there's music and fun. In the evenings on board, we like to fit in dinner with a show and some dancing.
